Anyone put a new fuel tank in?

Im thinking of going with the spectra 31 gal. and sending unit.
Also wanting to switch to an electric pump and abandon the mechanical.

Anyone see any problems with this, or has anyone used the spectra fuel tank, any problems with it?

thanks, Joe

p.s. anyone deal with rock auto? they have the best price on this, are they okay to deal with?

I know at least one other person that is looking for a new tank. Could you include a link to the one your asking about?

I've put new 31-32 gallon tanks in many diesel Blazers. Got them from whoever had the best deal at the time. J.C. Whitney, Rock Auto, or a local NAPA. Shipping charges often ofset any on-line savings.

Regardless of brand name, all the new tanks I've gotten were made in Canada and all had a poor galvanized-plating. Not as good as OEM. Otherwise they're fine. Thus I paint them all before installing.

Just make sure you get the tank straps to match the bigger tank.

In regard to Rock Auto, I've bought from them for years. They are usually, but not always the cheapest. Great customer service.

You may of already noticed, but the #1 problem with fuel gauges not working correctly with Blazers is a poor fuel-tank ground wire - although the sender often gets blamed.

RockAuto is the best online company for parts. They sell the exact same stuff as carquest and napa. I would keep the mechanical pump. make sure you paint the gas tank other wise it will not last long. Or get a plastic one. Also Rockauto always has discount codes google it you will find them.

Ah shucks, i should have waited a bit longer, i ordered the 25, i wanted the 31 but the sending unit for it said "w/o return" having 4 outlets coming out of the one i have, i figured i better get the 25 with the return. Oh well 25 will be fine.
I did get new tank straps for it, as well as sending unit, all spectra brand.

I use Spectra tanks all the time in my garage for many different applications. We have never had a problem with them in all the years we have used them. A quality product made in Canada and not Chinese junk.
