would front hubs that unlock on a deuce that has a sprag transfer case a waste of money. I just dont see them doing any good. if you unlock the tires from the axle the transfer case will think the back tires are slipping and ingage the front axle and it will be spinning any ways thus kinda making the hubs pointless.

I just talked to a gentleman who said that if you don't anticipate using your truck off road and just go to shows and the like you can remove the front hubs and (I'd purchase a seperate set) bring them to a machine shop and have them machine out the splines and then reinstall them. This will let the front free wheel without turning any of the front drive train. For the last rear set you could do the same, remove the axle shafts and cut them off or have a seperate set that just act like caps, or remove the rear driveshaft between the axles. Just a thought for show trucks.

So with the front hubs unlocked, the sprag will think your spinning out and engage the front axle? Therefore defeating the purpose of the hubs?

Think... NO, no way!:)
Engage... YES, automatically, acting in both directions (via two sprag clutches, Sprag clutch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and everytime the speed - or call it rpm-difference of the rear driveshaft over the front DS exceedes 8%, in our case.

yes thats what im tryin to say if the hubs are unlocked and the front drive shaft dont turn then when you drive the case will think you are spinnin the back tires and engage thus spinnin the front drive shaft defeatin the purpose of the hubs ( to save a lil gas by not having to spin the shaft) but there was also a good point made with the hubs unlocked then you could roll in any direction and i think that would be helpful in its own way.

with an air shift transfer case they work great. no idea on about the sprag. before you go to the machine shop the front hubs are hard as H3LL. when i had mine done the machinest burnt up two bits. installed them on one of my M35a2 and i get 8.2 MPG in town on diesel. :-D have not had a chance to road trip yet. i also stuck said truck in a mud hole because i had no front wheel drive. the other hubs were in the tool box under my butt. i am going to go with the locking hubs on my other trucks, this one does not usually see mud, just moving her around at the farm that day. :driver:
