M870 is a handy trailer!

The legend himself showed up with his M920A1 and M870 trailer. Wow, what a combination! This is the second time I have seen "The Monster", but the first time I have seen the M870 folding neck in action. The rear winch on the M920A1 is used to lower and/or raise the neck on the M870. Once you lay it down, it is drive on/drive off. Handy as a pocket on a shirt!

So where did the Goat end up at? I didn't see it around when we loaded the other trailer.

That 870A1 is something else. It makes me think I need to wait till a 920 comes along instead of all the nice 915A1s. Thanks for posting the pics, they are drool worthy!

Having used the M870 to haul D7s in the guard, I agree and love that trailer. I've hauled many loads with it and as long as you have the winch, it is a very simple and reliable trailer to use. I've hauled everything from D7s to 4 M105 trailers at a time and loved it.

I love the look of that M920 and what was done to make it look meaner than it was when received from Uncle Sam.

My old 1983 armored tractor Freightliner looked very simular to the now configured M920, though then I only had a 475 hp Cummins and a 15 speed.

The major difference was that tubeless tires were just becoming everyday rubber in OTR trucks.

I'd love to have that truck as a daily driver as you could park it anywhere you wanted and no one would have the nads to say anyhing about it.

That trailer looks super useful. Are there any detail photos on how the drop deck gets pinned into travel (up) position?

If you look at where the neck meets the deck there are three pins...two are hinge points the middle one pins the neck in place. The 5th wheel pin is also removable so the neck lays flat.

TM 5-2330-378-14&P covers the operation.

M920 has a few future mods that are going to make this thing even better!

Someday I'll have my own, right now I just get to drool...
