I like this Tim. The no nonsense apporach. I'd have to add a sign in the upper bunk stating that there will be no sitting up in bed allowed.

the top bunk seems a little high up for my taste.. to close to the face like a MRI machine.
Definitely tight up there. Forgetting where your at in the middle of the night and sitting straight up will be a painful experience.

Because of the precious space in the box I put the upper bunk close to the top to allow for a 14 inch space under the bunks for storage (very precious).
The upper bunk is great for the kids for camping, acceptable for adults in the thin to average build range during emergency situations, and will be used as storage in a few years when my two boys are no longer interested in going camping with the family anymore. And last as well as least(hopefully) in a severe situation there is still enough room under the dunk beds to sleep two more people.
More time went into the measuring and thought process than in the build time and I have never built anything from wood before this project.

Lockers for storage, underbed for storage and nightstand for storage. Everything in the camper has been bolted or secured to the floor in some way, shape, or form which was a nightmare at times to figure out.
Everything in the camper was procured on a very, very tight budget(craigslist is a budgetmaster's wonderland).[thumbzup]
