Well for Memorial Day my wife and I had a plan. I would take our son to the parade in Hartford, WI with Poof and she and our daughter would ride their bikes to the local parade here just to watch. As I was getting into the line up for the Hartford parade I got a text from my wife, she is running a fever and can't take Kitty to the parade at home. Now the mileage numbers start running through my head. I'm nearly 40 miles from home, this parade is suppose to start at 10:30 and the line up for the only later parade I'm aware of is at 1:00. Did I mention that parade is about 60 miles from my current location, and it's 85* out already? At one time I thought doing 2 parades would have been kind of cool, but after the drive to the first one and the heat in the cab I gave that idea up. But when I talked to my wife and she told me just how heart broken Kitty was that she wouldn't get to see a parade, what father can allow their daughter to deal with that? I knew what I had to do. When the Hartford parade was over I had to get to the Down Town Milwaukee parade. I finished the first parade and went straight home and picked up Kitty.

Now for those who have a deuce I don't have to tell you how hot the cab can get, especially on an 85* day. Well with 2 kids in the cab with you they feel even hotter. The nice thing with the Milwaukee parade is that it's by the lake front. About 3 miles out it felt like some one turned on an AC unit, there was such a noticable difference in temp it felt great. The good news is that we made the line up with no problem, about 5 minutes to spare. As anyone who has done a parade knows, line up may start at 1:00 and parade starts at 2:00, but that doesn't mean anything.

The important thing is that my 2 youngest got to enjoy parades on Memorial Day. For both of them it was their first experiance being in a parade, and what a treat that was for me. Forrest has found his parade wave and can wave with the best of them. Kitty has some learning to do, but I have faith in her. I hope after a few days I will have recovered enough to be able to look at the deuce again. I have no idea how hot it was in there or just how many bottles of water I drank, but my leggs are jello, my fingers and tingling, my head is pounding and my left arm has 3rd degree burns. Doing 2 parades in one day may not have been my brightest idea ever.

Nice job, parade whore.
And who is my "buddy from Iola"?
Look, I had to pick up your slack for not doing even one. On that note, are you doing the ROH parade this weekend?

Your buddy is the Goat. The old guy who wanted you to quiet down because you were too loud.

Now for a quick rant:

When I pulled up I parked behind the only other deuce there. Right away the owner came running up to me to point out how yes he knows it's not all original. Before I got there it was his deuce, three jeeps and the Goat in his CUCV. It seems that as always the jeep owners were a bunch of pompas pricks. I know I just made blood boil all over this site. It's my opinion, so not bible fact, that people who own jeeps and no other type MV's are a bunch of stuck up, pompas, stick in the arse a holes I don't want to be any part of. I guess they were giving him a hard time about the lighing upgrades he did to his duece and those upgrades not being original. Now I know guys like poof and westy(not the best example I know) who own a jeep and other MV's and are great to hang out with. Why is it that people who only own jeeps have to be this way? Maybe I need to start looking for the weld line in the jeep and point out how they don't line up exact or that front isn't the original from that back. If I was making my truck for a museum I would be concerned for it to be all original. But my truck is for me so why do you care or why should I care what you think?

Ok, thank you for letting me vent. I know that I have upset every jeep owner out there now. To be honest I hope I did, now think about it next time you meet another MV owner and choose your words carefully. Mother always said if you can't say something nice don't say it at all. Work to promote the hobby as a whole, not tare it down MV by MV.

Because they have noting else to do in life but restore a "jeep" to nut and bolt correct. I for one do not give one rat fart about it. People have been modding surplus military junk sense the first surplus thing came out of the gate.
If you want to restore nut and bolt go for it! Thats great! really someone has to do it. But don't bash people that do what they want. If it makes you that up set you better start buying every single Surplus thing the Gov has ever let out the gate and start fixing it up.

Wow, your truck is beautiful!!!!! Did you paint it? How did you get such sharp lines? I like it...actually, I love it[thumbzup]
Thank you for that. I taped all of my cammo lines off. I air brushed the lines between the brown and black but not the green and black or brown. I really like the sharp lines more and may redo the ones I air brushed. Here is a link to my write up, it's also a link in my sig line, if you click on the highlighted truck.
