Receiver hitch, trailer plug, & brake controller

After reading this forum I decided to have my hitch installed by the pro's. Today I got a 8 ton receiver hitch ($265 installed), 7 pin plug, and brake controller ($185 installed). I did not want to mess around and cause a dangerous situation on the highway.

Transmission cooler is next and I will be road ready to tow... SRM

EDIT- The spare tire would not fit even though we tried. I might be able to move the tire holder back or I may decide to mount it in my bed.

Is that a direct bolt on hitch? If so, what brand and model?

Is that the factory optional 8 track?

I knew someone would ask and I have no idea what brand it is. They had Hidden Hitch and Curt on display. All I know is it is 16,000 lbs, more than I will ever need.

Yep, that is an 8 track that still works... I will be getting a better stereo if I ever find one I like at a good price. SRM

EDIT-I got the part number off the receipt and think I found the hitch. They did have to remove 2 bumper support brackets that were in the way (that left 4 more), but one bolt on each side is attached to the bumper in it's place.

Two years ago I installed a 12,000 lbs receiver hitch and electric brake controller on my M-1028 to pull a 8,000 lbs Cobra helicopter. I have install several of these hitches on CUCV trucks.
The spare tire will if back in the original location by moving the left side drop bolt forward. If you need me to, I can take some pictures and post them showing where the bolts are located.

That is the problem with this type of install. Now the lifting/tiedown shackle box tubing is no longer attached to the frame because they cut it off.

It was a civilian fiberglass cover painted with CARC by the National Guard. No part number that I can find. SRM

I went and looked now that it stopped raining. 3 bolts to the bumper and more to the frame. I don't think it is going anywhere.

Here are some pictures of the hitch installed with the spare tire installed in the correct location. I miss spoke as you can see in the pictures. I swapped the locations of the mounting bolt on the M-1028. On the M-1008 the mounting bolts are on the correct sides but on both trucks the angle of the bolts are much greater.

The brand is Ultra Frame. See picture #6.

I trim the lifting/tiedown shackle box tube so the the hitch can be bolted to the frame and the box tube is still attached to the frame.

I was looking and I think I will just remove the spare tire hardware and save it in my junk box. I am thinking seriously about getting a spare tire mount for the bed and be done with it. The hitch weight will make up for the spare tire weight in the rear.
