running poorly, lack of power, black smoke, at higher rpm. sluggish

Ok so my exhaust is blacker... sometimes surges a little since I turned up the pump screw. Got a little more power but I still think I got a miss or timing issue or an injector not spraying right. it just feels like it doesnt have the horse power it use to have.

Now take this for what you paid for it!!

Try cracking each line at the injector, if no change injector could be bad or just tired. With the price for injectors, if you question them just replace them.

cracked each line ... and each one made it run worse... so that didnt help. next is to advance the timing. Those 2 bottom bolts are a bi.. bear. So im back to the computer researching how to loosen the 2 bottom bolts of the IP so I can advance the timing.

Get some cheap wrenches and a torch. There is a set you can buy, but its pricey.
I made a set when I had to advance the pump on my suburban.

You can look at photos online to get an idea of the bends and angles required.

Thanks guys.. hey Zero_cool, what is that gizmo picture on the right? I thought all I had to do was loosen the 3 flange bolts and turn the Ip a fingernails width toward the drivers side?

I couldn't turn my IP by hand so i made a wrench like this to help.
You can buy them but the ones i saw were crazy expensive.
Yea, thats right. The right pic is of a wrench that helps turn the pump. A long pry bar on the back side ( on injector outlets ) will also work. Be gentle, it shouldn't take too much pressure to rotate it a little it once the mounting bolts are loose.

Make sure you mark the existing location so you have a reference point!

Ok great so i got some Harbor freight specials... got the box wrench on it ...tapping with a hammer to loosen (sprayed with PB blaster 2 hrs ago) Now one of the nuts is getting rounded.
Wonder if I can get a super long socket extension under the intake manifold?

Oh What does this Vacume Gizmo do it is on the side of the pump I had to take a bolt out of it, rotated upward, Vacume lines look ok..... Does it have to be set a certain way? Is it vacume timing advance? could this be my problem?

EDIT never mind I found it... Sets the shift points for the transmission..Right?
the Rt pic sort of shows that dang nut down there ... I have tried 1/2 inch drive 1/4 inch
it use to be a 15mm nut. Now its someting else.

Well All this work and I am getting a little more power but i think that is bc I turned up the IP pump.
Looking back it might have all started with my AC60 plug debacle. I put in new ac 60 g plugs but did not bypass the resistor. All my plugs burnt up. I left them all in and today i am replacing them and i found one old burnt plug 1/4 inch short. Maybe it got loose and messed up a valve. Going to make a new thread to get some recomendations.
