Floor mat like original... only shorter

I ordered the rubber floor mat from LMC and received what looks like a front half of a truck set. It is a very tight side-to-side fit. I will have a session with a heat gun before I comment further.

Meanwhile, the mat only extends from the front firewall to the middle of the seats, leaving a big hole in the flooring requirement. Anyone know where I can get the rest of the rubber I need- you know, as far as the riser bottom.

What are you all using for a mat or flooring?

Here are a couple of photos showing what I installed from LMC. The Black mat (LMC) is waaay too short to do any good; but is seems to have the same pattern as the original. Under the rubber mat, I installed this new remnant piece of 1/2 Stainmaster carpet padding. Feels real nice; but I'll be keeping an eye on any water that may be collecting.

The rear half of the floor needed to be covered, as the steel floor was showing, so I came up with these anti-fatigue mats from HF. I trimmed the jigsaw edges to fit flush to all cab edges and had just enough to fill a ways under the LMC mat.

I got carried away with the overhaul and end up repainting the rear seat kick panel (chalkboard black). Since I had the seats out and the console too, I gave them fresh "code" vinyl dye jobs.

Whaddah ya think?09142011349[1].jpg

Did you order from the pickup or Blazer catalog?

That looks like the floor for the pickup from the pictures in the pickup catalog and not the Blazer as it would be just for the front half of the cab in a truck. The bench seat would cover the floor in a pickup and is much shorter. The Blazer rubber floor part number is 38-2841 and pickup is 38-2836.

edpdx I agree with K9Vic, if your planning on making the truck your daily driver the proper floor covering might be the smart move. Think of it this way, " Now the floor bolts will come back out easier". Isn't this a great hobby.

K9Vic, yep, I seemed to have screwed up- don't ask me how; but I ended up ordering from the truck catalog. I have a 73 3/4 T pick up and must have not checked that it was the blazer catalog I wanted when I wrote down the Mat number.

skysix, the dashmat was bought from a gal on ebay: Seller's ID:
customkoverzSeller's Email:
RUIZMARTHA40@YAHOO.COMThe cost was $14.99 plus shipping. The color was burgundy. It is not exact; but is darned close.

islandguydon is right about getting the right mat; though I do dread removing the seats, consoles and seat belts... oh well it's only 18 bolts, only 18 bolts, only 18 bolts, keep saying it over and over- oh and four screws for the shifter bezel.

The UNDERLAYMENT... see my second post in this thread:
anti-fatigue mats from HF
[Harbor Freight]. The front half was a remnant (new) from Lowe's of their best Stainmaster waterproof carpet padding. Incidentally, I took it around the block and it sounds way better- Can actually enjoy the radio again.

you may want to slide some thin heat insulation between the exhaust and floor, under the truck. they make some self sticking reflective sheets.
in my 78 civy blazer, I always had moisture under the carpeting and it rotted the floors.
