My question is what is the difference in a 2 1/2 ton and 5 ton rockwell axels and what is a fair price to pay for a 5 ton front. It is a rescue project.

They are not interchangeable(no parts the same). If you have a 5 ton truck, you need a 5 ton axle.

doghead is right. They are not interchangeable. Everything about the 5ton is physically larger. With all the big mud truck guys going to the 5tons over the smaller 2.5's the prices for fronts will be over a grand.

If you are too thin skinned to survive here, I don't see pirate 4x4 being a better choice. At least here when its starts to get out of hand the thread gets locked or deleted. Over there they just let the beatings go on and on and on.

Well not really, being pirate 4x4 is for the 4x4 crowd where most SSers drive 6x6s, 8x8s, 10x10s, or tracks, so in reality REAL MEN use 4x4s for WHEEL CHOCKS
