Pull starting these isn't hard, at least in my experience. I have an L70 and a clone engine and they both pull start without too much fuss down to 30 degrees.
It has been stored inside for a few years but previous was outside for about two decades. It's got about 6"-10" of raccoon feces on the inside of the box.
The engine turns over by hand and the oil is somehow not in the worst shape. I figure it's not worth much more than scrap unfortunately...
With the age of the unit and it being inoperable due to a few decades of sitting outside and being a raccon den, what would it be worth? I am a relative noob when it comes to generators for reference. I would like the unit to refirbish if possible for the house. I'm an ex diesel mechanic as well...
I have the opportunity to pick up one of these. Seems to be a MEP-005 predecessor. It is in unknown mechanical condition, the trailer it’s on seems to be in good shape. What are these worth? And are they worth messing with? They seem hard to find much info on.
I went through the TM section but...
I've been told to not even worry about getting a quote to rebuild one of these radiators, just not economically feasible, so I'm on the hunt for a solution. I've been working with a truck lately that I am looking to purchase but the radiator is leaking. I see NOS radiators around the $1,000...
Yes, we would use cribbing in the middle to keep it from bowing.
I also spaced that I have a loading dock at my disposal. Without checking measurements I believe the m35a2 bed is about the same height as a dock. Dragging it that way would be a lot less trouble and less margin for error it seems.
I have a pretty good idea in my head, involving a winch to pull the shelter and a come along in the bed of the truck to control the rate of speed it exits the bed. I'd use two vehicle ramps to let it slide out of the back, then once it's on the ground I could put dollies under it and wheel it...
That's good to know. I am looking at a few deuces in my area and prefer the look of the NDTs, plus I do like the availability of them on the surplus market.
I’m sure this was beat to death at some point but the search function isn’t showing me any hits.
Other than obvious cracks, chunks missing, etc of a bad tire, do these tires have a usable lifespan? And I’m not talking about hard rubber making traction less than optimal. I’m more concerned with...
I honestly can’t think of a time I tried the starter, just such an easy engine to start by hand.
I think I read somewhere that to use an inverter you need to have some batteries hooked in series for 24v. Is that true, and if so, why? Also, in the interest of keeping the unit self contained on...
