    My 1943 Willys MB

Thanks for the comments.Ryan77 do you know what unit your grandfather was in in the 103rd? I have a 103rd division history book published in 1996 by Turner Publishing that might mention his name. If you could PM me his name I will look it up. Put 103rd in the subject line.

    My 1943 Willys MB

A Long Over Due Update To This Thread These are pictures of my 43 MB after I applied my markings this past weekend. I purchased a stencil kit from Rick Larsen with markings for my late fathers WW2 unit. He served with the 103rd Infantry Division (the Cactus Patch division), 384th Field...

What to look out for when buying an MB?

The hood registration numbers are on the side of the hood just above the fenders. They usually wrap over from the side onto the top of the hood .They read horizontally.Look at just about any WW2 jeep picture and you will see them. They were always painted on.Up until late 1944 they were painted...

A good place to get parts for my MB

I would also recommend D.L.Bensinger out of Pennsylvania.I ordered my repo MB tub from them last year and they kept me informed on its progress due to the ship being diverted from New York to Baltimore by Hurricane Sandy.Link is dlbensinger.com If you phone them you will always be talking to...

    1941 gpw

1941? Interesting since production of the GPW did not start until Febuary 1942.The Ford stamping on the rear of the body was discontinued in mid 1942.Based on what you describe it sounds like you are looking at an early 1942 GPW.Will be interested in pictures and serial numbers.

    Value of 1943 Willys MB?

Harold,I believe that all engine # were six digits.I wonder if there should be a 1 between the MB and the 5.The only sure way to tell the engine date is to remove the oil pan and look for the engine machining date stamped on the bottom of the block towards the transmission end of the block.Also...

    Value of 1943 Willys MB?

Harold, sorry but sellers statement of all original eguipment is wrong. The engine compartment pic alone shows many mods.such as wrong voltage regulator, starter solenoid never used on WW2 jeeps and, yuck, plastic coated wires. The cylinder head on the engine is postwar, the WW2 heads do not have the...

    My 1943 Willys MB

Tigger,I call that my substitue standard fuel tank,Ha Ha! Greg, the pictures are of my trial fit.The only thing holding it in place is the fenders and grille. The sheet metal appears to be the same thickness as what is left of my old tub.Fit to the frame appears to be good.I have yet to mark and...
