    MEP-804B Overvoltage Shutdown

Thanks for this Guyfang. I bought my VR from gijoeczar. Not implying I got cheated. With my old machine, it could be something upstream or downstream of the VR causing the fuse to blow with the gijoeczar VR installed. Time permitting, I’m going to track down the root cause as I want the machine...

    MEP-804B Overvoltage Shutdown

I read a lot of threads before digging into testing. In my case with a high voltage light, and a bad VR, the fuse remained good. In my research, I found a bad VR does not always blow the fuse. Again, that was the case with my machine. Who did you buy your eBay VR from? I ask because I...

    MEP-804B Overvoltage Shutdown

I followed the VR TM test instructions. See attachment for my results. It confirmed the VR was bad, so I replaced it with the VR kit Kurt Klopp’s sells. My machine works perfect now!

    MEP-804B Overvoltage Shutdown

Arty, I'm having the same issue with my MEP-804a - over voltage. My voltage regulatory, rheostat, resistor, and power transformer are TRC. I can disconnect the A2 and the machine runs without holding S1 in the start position. I reset the fault switch on the MIF panel. My regulator and pot...

    MEP-804a preheat

    Perfect and thank you. Tony

    MEP-804a preheat

Problem solved. Wires 172A and 190A were reversed; 172A was on S1 7 and 190A on S1 1. Last question related to glow plugs and the original problem. When I move S1 to the preheat position, it initially makes a click sound. It sounds like two energized points closing. Is it normal in preheat...

    MEP-804a preheat

No worries. Thanks for confirming. Appreciate all the help. Rain is supposed to end around noon, so I can report back my findings/results soon. Thanks again, Tony

    MEP-804a preheat

Guyfang, I compared your chart wire numbers and termination points to the TM schematic PDF posted here ( (2) All the TM's you need to work on the MEP-804A | SteelSoldiers ). See page 21. The wire numbers and termination points do not match. Is it possible the schematics posted at the link above...

    MEP-804a preheat

Thanks Guyfang. Very helpful. Once the rain stops, I will verify S1 wiring and then report my findings (and most likely success). Thanks, Tony

    MEP-804a preheat

thanks for the quick response. Will look it over tomorrow during daylight. Thanks again, Tony

    MEP-804a preheat

Roger that. Per the TM schematic, locations 2, 4, 6, and 8 are hot. On mine, 4 and 8 are bridged and have wires on them. Need to trace those wires to their end points. On the other side of S1 is 1, 3, 5, and 7. 1 and 7 are bridged with a diode - need to check direction, but as I read the...

    MEP-804a preheat

New to the forum. Bought first military generator. Excellent machine. Ran load bank last weekend. Machine ran at 61amps comfortably. This forum has been extremely resourceful. TM’s equally helpful. That said, I have a question regarding preheat. When I turn S1 to preheat, the starter engages...
