    Aux Fuel Tank

40 gallons of diesel fuel would weigh around 275-280 lbs. depending on temperature. Add in the weight of the tank and mounting hardware you are well over 300+ pounds. That might be a bit too much weight on top is my thought, but I am not the expert on what it can safely hold. Also what is your...

    MEP-831A kilowatt meter shunt?

Great, thanks for confirming Guyfang that it is a shipping shunt.

    MEP-831A kilowatt meter shunt?

Picked up a new to me MEP-831A generator that has a wire coil shunt on the rear of the kilowatt meter. I believe this is only for shipping to keep static discharge from damaging the meter. Can anyone confirm why this is here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

MEP-831A Freq Converter (A8) rebuild - anybody have luck with repairing these?

I guess I just have to ask... were you successful in getting your inverter going again? Has anyone else been able to restore these inverters when they fail?

MEP-803A replacement gauges and other items

OK, I believe I'm good at this point. I have both gauges on order along with the broken fault reset switch. For the Oil pressure gauge, I followed this thread. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/oil-pressure-gauge.193963/#post-2268752 Thanks for your input guys.

MEP-803A replacement gauges and other items

The latest MEP-803 in the shop is now up and running. This one was interesting as I found a large wet, stinky rodent nest up on the Generator terminal strip! Yuch! Much bleach and cleaning finally got that area clean again. The next item addressed was the engine fuel stop lever, it was broken...

My winter project - MEP-803A (multiple problems)

Update: I finally have my load bank assembled and running to test out the generators. It’s consists of three comfort zone garage heaters that can run at 3000, 4000 or 5000 watts each. This allows for several varied loads to be selected. I installed them onto a Harbor Freight trailer lift...

My winter project - MEP-803A (multiple problems)

I am. Running at 75% or less with plenty of rests in between, just ran it up to 115% for a ten seconds test. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My winter project - MEP-803A (multiple problems)

Well let’s see... not counting oil, batteries and fillers, I would say around $450 for the parts. That includes new rebuilt injectors, piston rings, fuel tank brass well nuts, new valves, guides and seals along with the gasket kit. It really helped having a friend that had a valve seat rework...

My winter project - MEP-803A (multiple problems)

Close...I ended getting it for 1900. It really drives up the prices when IP starts bidding at 1200 or 1700 on these units. I wanted to bite off more than normal just for the challenge and education, and this fit the bill nicely. :) See what following this forum will get you into!

My winter project - MEP-803A (multiple problems)

Thanks, Jamawieb. Good to know I have a close helping hand if ever needed...same to you if you ever need a hand as well. I found two extra S1 switches in the bottom along with a bunch of K1 screws and covers. I got really good at understanding the wiring diagrams and figuring how to put all...

My winter project - MEP-803A (multiple problems)

Part 2- I still need to give it some more run time and load it up to 100% and see how it does, but it's been a hoot so far getting this guy running again, I have learned so much from reading all the helpful posts from all of you that I felt I was ready to tackle this project. I also have...
