    mep gen sets

Good luck on the auction. Let us know how it goes. I think the 803 will do a fine job powering your set up.

    mep gen sets

A couple years back I was vacillating between the 802 and 803. Leaning more toward the 803 at the time. Had bids on both and ended up with only the 802. At the time I was bummed. I am very happy with the 802. It runs everything in our house when power is out. It will not run our 5 hp...

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

Double check the wiring with a meter to ensure they are routed correctly. It is surprising how many wires can be routed incorrectly.

MEP 803a/802a Governor adjustment how do you do it??? TM mentions a gage

I had the urge to look at the governor when I first got the generator, but quickly changed my mind after reading what was required in the TM. A special tool that I didn't have. It runs and generates electricity just fine. I will cross that bridge only when I have to.

    Frequency Fluctuating on MEP802

I second the advice above. The genny I bought had a faulty frequency meter. I use a digital meter to set the frequency.

New mep-803a control panel wiring problem?

I was in your situation a year ago. Some tags wires were tagged incorrectly. Much of the generator was wiredincorrectly. Ended up pinning out each circuit. Like Guyfang said, I would not trust themuntil verified. Get the wiring diagrams out and verify they are routed to the rightlocation...

    MEP-802 Govenor/Frequency Adjustment Problem

Guy, I am using the TM's uploaded to SS. Kenny, the governor holds steady when set. I reassembled the cable to the governor speed lever and barrowed my friends Fluke and measured the frequency output. I found out the frequency meter on the genset differs from the Fluke reading. At this point...

    MEP-802A K1 Terminal Layout

Here is another plug for reading and studying the manuals in depth. I do not know how I missed it but L1, L2, L3, and L0 S8 locations are clearly identified on F0-1, FP-1. If it had been a snake it would have jumped out and bit me!

    MEP-802 Govenor/Frequency Adjustment Problem

I cannot get the frequency adjustments with in specs (58 Hz) on the low end called out in the TM. The cable has run out of length. The attached picture shows where sits the governor without the cable installed and the corresponding frequency is just below 60 Hz on the generator meter. The...

    MEP-802A K1 Terminal Layout

Guy, thanks again. I had to sit and think on what you said about L1,L2, and L3. It makes sense now. The good news is that everything is now wired properly and the generator is making power on all 3 different settings on S8.

    MEP-802A K1 Terminal Layout

Guyfang, thanks for the advice and diagram it is much appreciated. I did remove K1 and wiped it down. Could not find any markings on the K1 annotating the terminal layout. There were two spots where decals had once been, but no where to be found. Since I had it out I decide to take the...

    MEP-802A K1 Terminal Layout

Thank you to all who share their knowledge about these generators. I have learned a lot buy reading through the forum. I won a generator in July. During the initial inspection I noticed many wires that were not connected to anything. This set me on the path of checking and chasing out every...

    8MR3005 Alternator Tech Data

This is a great site providing a wealth of information. I brought home a new MEP-802A last week and was having trouble determining the exact terminal post layout for the alternator from the TM's. I found this data on the Prestolite web page and thought I would share. Current web address is...
