    Vinyl cargo cover failed seam

My new cargo cover (actually one for a 5-ton) didn't last long on my Deuce. After a cold snap with temps in the mid-teens, and an exercise run of 20 miles in mid-30's temps, I returned to notice a major longitudinal seam failure in the top, about in the middle of the cover. Inspection revealed a...

Installing a Passenger Side Jerry Can Holder on a M35

Nix on the dieseline warning. It will NOT hurt a multifuel engine, but you'd be advised to add motor oil to it like the book says. You should be adding lubricity to your ULSD anyway, I use TCW3-rated 2-cycle oil @ 200:1 ratio for pump diesel.

    M35a2 NATO Slave-Starting system

What I need would be like the part number earlier in this thread, but with the old, not new style of female connector on it. The spade lugs on the end are perfect. Here's those numbers: PN 5705623 Slave Cable Kit NSN 9200134788035 Chief, yours might work, I would just swage on my own spade...

    M35a2 NATO Slave-Starting system

OK, now I'm in the market for an adaptor that will let me build something else onto that male end (cable leads for an inverter).

    M35a2 NATO Slave-Starting system

...plus, making electrical energy is not what the truck will usually be used for, only when it is in the emergency service of the County, with whom I have volunteered it, and only then in extreme conditions when mains power might be unavailable. I have Honda generators for primary power...

    M35a2 NATO Slave-Starting system

Yes, a dead idle for hours would be bad, but the Op Manual says shorter-period idling is OK. If I was making electrical energy with the M35, I would be manning the vehicle, and could increase idle speed occasionally. Of course, all that slow-speed stuff means more frequent oil changes, but I do...

    M35a2 NATO Slave-Starting system

Thanx for the reference. I went over there, but there's no info available as to whether it is new-type STANAG cable or the older type, which is what I need. I sent the seller a email to ask. The price isn't bad, since a 12-foot size #1 cable set with spring clamps costs almost $90, and I would...

    M35a2 NATO Slave-Starting system

I want to get a NATO Slave Starting cable for my 1972 M35a2. It has an operable (connected) NATO-style, 2-prong female Cannon plug receptacle by the passenger-side door on the cab body. My research tells me that this cable was standard Unit equipment for the period of service of these vehicles...

    Insurance and Licensing

No, I dealt with Progressive through the USAA office. They made the actual insurance connections. My USAA/Progressive agent is Darlene Beeson, at 1-800-776-4737 Progressive likes do deal through agents or their own offices. My suggestion would be to walk into one of their offices. You could...

    Insurance and Licensing

Reasonable Insurance I went through every "Collector Vehicle" insurance carrier. Two offer service to MV collectors, Hagerty and JC Taylor. Both require complete garaging. Hagerty additionally prohibits any sort of firearm in their insured vehicles. Both of them made bids, JC Taylor's was $130...

    Insurance and Licensing

I just went with Progressive, a USAA partner. I got FULL insurance because I got things to lose if sued. The maximum policy cost me $783/year, and it mates with my USAA Umbrella policy. Darlene Beeson, 1-877-776-2436 was the agent. No questions about use, I can do commercial work if I want to...

Just picked up a deuce, some issues!

Does that one have a Sprague Unit to split the power to front/rear? If so, the Sprague might have gotten stuck in some sort of intermediate position and be mostly unlocked. Using heat lamps, warm up the transfer case to "hot to the touch" and drain/refill the xfr case. I'd also get the truck...

2010 PNW "Mini" Rally Part 3

Still nada from the trucker's board in Speedy City. Will keep everyone informed when and if someone picks up the M35 as a load. chances are, it'll wind up in the Seattle area anyway, there's a ton more traffic thru Speedy for Seattle than there is for Portland. If it comes into Seattle, I just...

2010 PNW "Mini" Rally Part 3

Cabelas, eh? This hobby isn't spendy enuff, we have to meet at CABELA'S, where I can never get out for less than a couple Benji's! If my M35A2 makes it here to Portland from Gene Maccus in time, I will probably bash it up there. When I was a grease monkey in the OR Air Nasty Guard, I drove...
