My 998 has really really touchy brakes, it only takes 1/2" tops for them to engage.
So far I have yet to see a solution. My major issue is that the brake lights do not come on.
The switch is adjusted back as far as it can be..

I was told a long time ago when working on airplanes that you never "hot swap" electronics.. Just a little surge when reconnecting and poof you have a paperweight..
I actually have changed a few and when I disconnect the batteries I actually then turn the switch to on to make sure anything...
Not to be a broken record, the VIN or SN really means nothing on a HUMVEE. if it has been through reset or maybe even repainted you have no idea if that was the original SN.
