    my back hoe and my winch on it have the same type manual valve block and if you are using a set of gin poles on an oilfield truck and need to move your load an inch or less you dont control it by engin rpm ,your engine is set to your gpm of your pump and you leave it set there and use your valve...

    you will get complete control by fethering the valve but it will take a bit of practice, watch sombody using an older backhoe they can move the boom with perfect control and there are fethering the valves .you can put in a variable flow control valve if you feel you need one . and i would not...

    did you check the shear pin? and its not a good idea to pull with the truck using the winch cable and winch as your pull point . even though i have done it myself .

    sounds like our experence with diesel or propain fueled heaters dont trust them. a burnt 200000 $ feller buncher is not a good sight first thing in the morning , if it geta past 35 below we let them run or double shift and work all night

    ya the coupler jaws are probly worn on an angle that and the fact he has said he lubed it all causes it to jump out of gear . we weld up the dogs (what we call them anyway) grind them square again and your good to go
