Just purchased a pair of m36 trucks her in ca. planned on bobbing one of them. They are not the cleanest units but seem pretty complete. seems the m36 is harder to find. Any reason not to cut them up ? I am totally new to these rigs and not even sure I’ll be able to get them registered.

I’ve never been a fan of bobbing but they are your trucks. You get to choose their fate. What other people think is just so much bad sushi. You don’t have them registered? Do you have their titles? That’s going to be tough to overcome. I’m not familiar with California DOT rules but you want to get your answers before you start working on them.

i have the bill of sale from the auction company. CA is a pain in the ass for everything. Would love to leave them 3 axle but don’t want to carry the class B lic if I don’t absolutely have to.

I understand. That’s one of the reasons I’ll probably never move back to CA. Parents left there when I was 3yo and except for a 3 1/2 year tour there in the Marine Corps, I haven’t been back.
Best of luck to you, hopefully you can create the truck you want without too much CA poofter.

Long wheelbase trucks are hard to come, by I would love to have one .

I can't even fathom cutting one up, but to each his own .

That being said I have some front springs w/hangers should you want em .

Those trucks look really clean in the picture

M-36's complete are worth at least one and a half more than an M-35 in similar condition. So, you could get three M-35's for what you have. They are less than 25,000 gross weight, so no CDL required (nationally - Kalifornia is probably worse). They are your trucks, but if you bob them you make every remaining M36 more valuable!

I wouldn't cut them up. I'm still sad the farmer across the street cut up their three or four gasser M36s, even if they no longer had the cargo beds on them.

I would rather not cut something up that’s hard to find. I’ll get them home and see how to proceed.

this state makes having any fun really difficult. Only reason I wanted a two axle is so I don’t need the class b lic.

Does Ca have a historic vehicle licensing program?

AZ does, completely non-commercial no restrictions other than carrying really heavy loads. Has to be 25 years old or more.

Got one running with the fuel shut off moving freely and about 1/8 mile down the road it shut down. Broke the tit off the shut off pin. Now the rod inside seems stiff 🥴 used the pin from the other truck to test it and it won’t spring back. Back to the drawing board. Ran really well for a bit.

It’s still there. Wish I would have bought that one as well. One of mine is missing a few key parts. We towed one home with a strap and a truck will pick up the other. I think I could have made two complete with all three.
