    From fire truck to MTV

Pass through is all mounted! Very happy overall with how it turned out. Have some painting, putting in some soft pads to kneel on when crawling through, and the accordion seals but that's all easy stuff. Pretty easy to crawl through and I'm 6'4" 195lb. Kids can practically run though it. The...

Worked on the middle box for the pass through, as well as the bracket. Probably will have it properly mounted tomorrow.

LMTV 3126B oil pressure gauge sending unit

A1r here, my oil pressure gauge moves a lot. About a second delay but varies a lot with rpm.

    Thanks for the refresher!

LBCD replacement due to loose studs. CARNAGE!!

I think it's a wording thing and I wasn't clear. My batteries do not disconnect, I see a decent amount of voltage sag when the grid heater is on, that's also when the alternator is flashing orange. I meant the alternator "disconnected" not the batteries. I looked it up at One point but I forget...

Post what is needed to Title an FMTV as an RV in YOUR state.

In Wisconsin the below is required. No inspection needed either. My truck(RV) is plated up to 80k gross. No CDL required as long as it's under 45ft (6) “Motor home" means a motor vehicle designed to provide temporary living quarters built into as an integral part of, or permanently attached to...

LBCD replacement due to loose studs. CARNAGE!!

Yep, unable to start in -12 F (or maybe it was -14). Today it was 34 and truck started totally normally. On the alternator route, my 100amp temporarily disconnects (although I don't get a dash light) when the grid heater is running. Have dual blinking orange lights on the regulator (this is at...

    From fire truck to MTV

Modified the bracketry for the coolant tank to move it back about 3 in. Now regardless of how much the cab flexes, the pass-through bulkhead can't come in contact with the coolant tank.

It will be attached above the air box with bellows on each side, both removable.

Not sure about winch yet, but if I do it will probably be electric. I'm sure the heater would help some, but unless I heated the batteries I don't know if it would be enough. Was considering a 24v jump pack that could be kept warm. It's a shame alternators are so dang expensive for these trucks.

Welded up the pass though box, .125" so it's heavy but strong. Trusty old Lincoln flux core welder worked great.

Year and a half ago for last post... haven't heard of anything ever coming from this.

    LMTV: winch on the deck

I can almost guarantee that CAD model is very inaccurate. Even if dimensionally perfect, the details needed for an accurate FEA are very technically complicated. Unless you are an engineer doing FEA on a regular basis and understand all the factors, FEA on an assembly structure like this is...

    From fire truck to MTV

Installed the cab passthrough door today. Went pretty well. Only concern is how close the coolant tank is, may have to relocate it depending on chassis flex.

    From fire truck to MTV

Made some progress on the pass though. Door for the habitat side is complete (besides sealing and paint). There will be an intermediary box above the filter, then another door/bulkhead on the cab side. The door in the cab will be right behind the drivers seat and can be accessed without having...

    LMTV CTIS Question

I'm running the stock pressures except for highway, Which I have at 80. Mine is a 6x6, unknown weight but probably around 30,000 lbs. Since mine is big and has a habitat on back it's not going to be doing ultimate rock crawling stuff.

    LMTV CTIS Question

Personally I think 4 pressures are more than enough. I can't come up with a theoretical situation where having more would make a difference, as long as you have them programmed for your needs.

    M1088 camper conversion

Curious why ad9 vs the purest version used on newer trucks? Sounds like lots of good news!

    LMTV CTIS Question

I'd really recommend getting a diagnostic interface and the Dana software(free). There is also a ton of other software for other parts of the truck you can access with same interface - getting that software other software can be problematic(expensive). If you want more detailed info you can send...

M1078 LMTV Hand Pump Exploded Twice

I think that's correct, I also couldn't find definitive information on the check valves. I pulled those two parts out and it wasn't totally clear if they are the check valves.
