Some questions: CelticLady, did you already figure out which year the truck is from? There is thread by Carnac that can help you narrow it down using the serial number. Do you have the Garwood 20,000 lbs winch? Fasttruck, what winch are you showing here, never saw this clutch winch.

To summarize: seatbelts, certainly the modern three-point ones which extra tighten on impact, do save from injuries and death in 99% of the cases. However, there are freak situations where the seat belt may actually hinder your escape and maybe even result in your death while not wearing one...

I think the Caspian contraption could handle up to 8 - 9 feet waves, turns probably would be not as rapid as hover crafts, but no idea. As to the I-400, bad weather off course was the major problem especially when recovering the planes.
