To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

You caught me at the right time. Normally I don't even crawl out of bed for at least another 15 minutes.

To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

rear battery should have a smaller wire for the TCM, and a larger wire going up to the alternator. I'd check there first and see if you have the larger wire and if so where it's going, before trying to start at the alternator only to find the wire dangling somewhere it shouldn't be after trying...

To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

I yes. It's rated for 50 amps so use the appropriate wire size. I was still editing my previous answer when you replied :)

To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

Wire A is the 14V tap that would go the the rear battery. It's typically only installed for trucks with 4 speed transmissions. It does help keep the batteries balanced, so installing a wire there is helpful, but is not required for operation in 3 speed trucks. Seeing as you should have a 4...

    Lenders for HMMWV purchase?

Most likely you will have to do it as a personal loan, and not a vehicle loan through most financial institutions because they don't recognize military surplus as legitimate vehicles.

HMMWV Brake Fluid DOT 5 HELP!!

B-46176 (not 8 ) is mil spec silicone brake fluid. It's difficult to tell the 6 and 8 apart on stamped covers like that.

HMMWV Brake Fluid DOT 5 HELP!!

A complete system flush is always a good idea if there is anything unknown about what fluid is in the system. At that point you can run whichever fluid you want to, though if it were mine I'd try checking at the brake calipers what fluid color comes out first.

    Anyone running 40” tires?

As long as your springs are good, then 40" tires fir with no modification. Not really any size difference between 40" tires and 37" tires running snow chains. If all you do is tires, you're talking less than 2" difference in overall height Interco makes a 39.5" tire for 16.5" rim specifically...

    6.5 vs 6.5td worth it?

depends on which version of truck with the turbo. Post 300000 serial numbers have the sheppard steering box and geared fan drive that are difficult/expensive to repair. Before that I don't think there is a huge difference between most of the truck. I've got a 6.5 non turbo, and it does good...

Fuel gauge issue after changing fuel filter

If you're going through more than a couple tanks a year, then no real need for treatment. As long as you buy clean, dry diesel and don't let it sit for more than 3 or 4 months, you should be fine without treating it. If you're buying and storing diesel longer than a year or so, then I'd start...

Fuel gauge issue after changing fuel filter

agree with the others. My tank still has at least 5 gallons when on empty. Every 1/4 tank mark equals 5 gallons. Fuel gauge sometimes seems to move normally, but usually just shows one of a few positions. Float in tank is unaffected by vacuum.

Humvee shock absorber and spring options?

My truck seems to be an exception to multiple of the rules for these things, as it was MAK equipped, and had the cast upper mounts and lower arms that work with the scissor jack under the hood. Just saying that most trucks will fall within the common usages, but you still need to check...

Humvee shock absorber and spring options?

Weight in the back will soften it up some, but you'll still want to change out the front springs. My truck definitely feels softer in the rear with about 2-3k worth of weight in it (M1123 with MAK suspension still installed) Empty if one wheel us about 6" higher than the others, one corner is...

    Purchased a 2006 Humvee M1097R1 - Need Help

"won't start" isn't much of a description of what's going on. You will receive better help if you do a couple of things 1) start your own thread. Every thread on here is supposed to be related to a single thing. Jumping into a thread about someone else's truck with a problem not related to...

    HMMWV Generator / Alternator substitute

just for future reference, you might want to include your model and what alternator you have in your truck when asking about parts replacements/upgrades, as all we can really do is give general advice (and it's not always useful for every truck, so sometimes it's dead wrong)

    Changing Brake Pads On M1123

Bolts get lock washers (nord lock seem to be the most commonly recommended type) and medium strength locktite. It's also recommended that you use new bolts, as the torque spec is over the recommended torque for that size/grade of bolt, making them single use (it's not that far over, so you can...

    Recommended spare parts list.

Only need the ether to seat the tire bead if you aren't running military tires with beadlocks. if serpentine belt system, the bearings for the idler pulley are relatively easy to swap out. I've had 2 different trips where the bearings failed, and fortunately had the tools on my to pull the...

    HMMWV Generator / Alternator substitute

60 amp alternator the brushes and regulator are readily available and relatively inexpensive. The dual voltage alternators rarely have issues with the unit itself; most of the time it's the external regulator that fails. civilian alternator is going to be more readily available, but are...

    HMMWV Generator / Alternator substitute

You can put anything you want in them, if you can find someone to make the brackets and stuff you need, or can do it yourself. There are at least a few people selling a civilian 24V alternator kit to replace the OEM unit, all you really need to do is add a 24-12V converter if you have a 4 speed...

Registering a NEWER Humvee in New Hampshire

Most of the issues occur when the vehicle is originally registered using the SF-97. Too many offices don't understand what's supposed to happen, so they spin some BS about why it isn't allowed in order to cover their butts and not take responsibility. Most of the time, if the state isn't...
