Pulled the trigger on a M923- what next?

I figured it would be a fairly tight truck so recently out of rebuild but now I’m a bit worried about it. What’s the story behind these rebuilds and the rods?

Pulled the trigger on a M923- what next?

After reading around the forum a bit, looks like I need to invest in a good lug nut wrench and keep it in the truck. I’ll also break loose the nuts at our shop and retighten before I head out. Sounds like there have been painful tales of folks not able to get nuts loose out in the yonder...

Pulled the trigger on a M923- what next?

Just purchased a 1984 M923 that went through Red River Depot refurb on 9/10. 1100 miles on odometer, no rust spots, and seems to start and run okay around the parking. I didn't take it on the highway for full run but it seemed tight. It has good 11.00R20's so will be on the lookout for super...

New guy here (again): Can I pull a pup dump trailer with M939? Air brake question...

Yes, that's one mean dump truck!!! But it's way overkill and only a one-trick pony for what I need on my little ranch. And I'm afraid to ask what one of those will cost me if I find one.

New guy here (again): Can I pull a pup dump trailer with M939? Air brake question...

Ok-I agree about hauling a fully loaded pup without any weight in the truck is not a safe idea. Will keep that in mind. As for the Johnson brake, I understand that's a mechanical way to engage the trailer brakes without engaging the truck brakes. Same idea as having the electric brake...

New guy here (again): Can I pull a pup dump trailer with M939? Air brake question...

That sounds too easy but I like it. Swapping the bulbs out for LED is a great idea too. It’s been a long time since I used air brakes but I remember not to pump them like hydraulic brakes. Any other tips?

New guy here (again): Can I pull a pup dump trailer with M939? Air brake question...

One of the reasons I'm looking for a M939 is to haul road-base gravel where there is no road. Assuming I get a M939 and I convert the bed to a dump bed, I'm also thinking about buying a civilian pup dump trailer and using the pintle to pull it. These are fairly common and cheap in my area but...

New guy here: wondering why folks convert to super singles?

How do you modify the wheels? I'm assuming there's a spacer between them since the 395's are wider?

New guy here: wondering why folks convert to super singles?

AAAhhh. Top speed, surplus availability, and off road steering are pretty good reasons to go with super singles. I'm assuming that means a complete set of wheels too, right? We'll have to see what becomes available in the local market but I wanted to walk in with some knowledge of this...

New guy here: wondering why folks convert to super singles?

Intros are needed first: My name is Rex and I live in Austin, TX. I'm prior military and have always had the itch to buy a deuce or such after spending some time driving them around Army bases. That and I like to buy money-sucking projects where my wife thinks I'm an idiot. So to scratch...
