What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

You know how some people can say one single thing that may change the way you think? I pulled up to a stop light one time, and there was a lifted diesel F-350 stopped next to us, and he had the dangling chain nuts thing going on. Well, the girl in my passenger seat simply said "Had to buy them...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Not sure if I am a big Wilton fan. They may be OK, I have never owned one. I beat the snot out of my Sears one with hammers and it has been fine for decades. This Wilson says "Made in China for Wilson". Ugh.... This was $150 on eBay. Wrecker ones are cool, but I didn't want to drive around...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That's a lot of money for headlamps. You could probably do night vision for that, and not need them at all. :) I bought the lowest cost Stihl chainsaw today to keep in my 9, $178 for a MS170, 33cc 16" bar. It is not a locomotive, but it will cut whatever needed, just take a pinch longer...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I bought one of those Wilton hitch mount vices. I'll probably never use this silly thing, but it is now in the truck box. Maybe I'll crack some walnuts with it at Christmas... http://www.wiltontools.com/us/en/p/6-atv-all-terrain-vise-/10010

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Added a self contained 24v amber strobe to the rear for safety if on road side at night. Other holes are for clear LED backup/work lights, and reverse alarm. Drilling steel with a 4" hole saw is not the easiest task...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I doubt it. You can see he spent nearly $1000 just in parts, and that is at a discount on almost all components. So then add a profit margin in there to make it worth doing so, and you are up over $1000. Example, how much would you pay to switch yours to solenoid valves, and how many channels...

Good job. I'm envious, and all talk apparently. You actually did it.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

You #$&^ you beat me to it! I looked into doing this with manifold mounted valves. Looks like you did it with valves alone ( single station valve/manifolds)? What size are they, D05?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I see I'm not the only one who bought the Harbor Freight magnetic cup holder (toolbox section of store). At least you painted yours green, mine is still red.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The H4 conversion is such an awesome upgrade. I highly recommend this over LED. For just a pinch more $, you can get genuine Hella globes and bulbs, and everything in front you becomes daylight, even with legal rated bulbs.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

On the coolant topic, I also did a 3 stage coolant flush. I did replace my radiator last year with a brand new one, but I wanted to clean the block, hoses, trans cooler, heater core, thermostat housing, all that. After much research, this is the process I followed: 1. Drained existing...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Supposedly nothing aftermarket fits (NAPA/Wix, etc....), only the OE filter fits the can, and is not low cost. Some people are buying a smaller OD filter which is available in the aftermarket, and it is believed to flow more air by better exposing the entire surface area of the filter element...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

New Carter brand lift pump on eBay is $25 and free shipping. They do sell the primer button cover separate, but at that price, I changed my entire pump. Gravy job. Bolt pattern seems almost same as a Chevy 350. Did you crack open an air bleed after the pump when priming? There is a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Had new fuel suction hoses made for my 925A2, since lots of reports here that they leak and suck air over time. Hose is high temp hydraulic hose, as recommended by the local shop which makes them. Wanted stainless braided with teflon liner, but they cringed and said that may look fab, but is...
