I have the four man setup and I setup the modified two man troop seats to fit the four man setup. The standard four man cargo cover will not fit this setup unfortunately as it is too wide with the troop seats. I replace the old side boards with mahogany 1x6s.

The studs and nuts have an anti rust coating applied to them and I would venture that is causing the issue you are experiencing. A Little light oil on the studs will help. If you cleaned them up with a wire brush that's about all you can do. I've touched up my studs and nuts (where needed)...
They look fixable but will definitely take some work to get them in order. You may have to replace some or all of the glass due to laminate separation. Unfortunately the price is about right for the market right now.

I don't believe painting the stack with Behr paint would be a good idea. Besides the heat you have contraction and expansion and that may make the paint flake off over time. If you do paint it with the Behr please keep us updated on the performance. Interesting question.
