Hey, speaking of forging, I just found out Tesla worked with some European company to build the best forging press on the planet....so far. Hot aluminum is injected into some very complex forms for large automotive parts....not too fast or it creates bubbles and not too slow or the aluminum...

I watch TV. The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon had an eidetic memory and although I'm no Sheldon, I can often recall where I saw a photo or a sentence....for some odd reason. I'm not always sure where my keys are......but I can picture them. One thing we never pictured were the rod bolts for the...

Anyone ever half cover a deuce cargo bed?

That is a great idea. Drainage in the rain age calls for a water dam between the fenders, .....or a lifted floor in the bed area so water can drain under/ out a hole. or a combo to manage water. Maybe a solid back/mid wall would be better with a rain seal on the bottom, a door with a knocker ...

That's good timing, ironic, funny and saved me a ton of time. I was just telling Soldier B Mattech that my eidetic memory knew it saw pictures of the heater install kit. It didn't know where or when so thank you. Today we got double skunked. Lost a water buffalo tank that likely would have...

I was sure hoping we weren't going to get skunked with all the good stuff that was coming out of the wrecker. It turns out the real Skunks don't care what I hope for and I was getting skunked one way or the other. Cool little visitor to the G749 farm posing in front of the P-4. Ol' Cliff the...

    302 engine head gasket set

The NOS supply is certainly thinning out but I did see a kit on eray today with the title " gmc 302,m135, m211, 6 cyc engine overhaul gasket kit fel-pro It was linked through one of those faceoff places https://www.facebook.com/groups/1983094901939987 ....then Dan Jahn says he still has NOS...

I haven't found anything recently worthy of photographs let alone sending to you.....yet. We might see the buried trucks by the end of the week so I will share what we find. Every so often I do that search for "military surplus cab heater" and they don't show up all the time. This was one I...

Here it is. These guys are funny. A little better picture of the wrecker. It's good to have a sense of humour around the Legend. This is how we dug out the G749 crate engines. Can you see that little box hanging maybe 20 feet off the end of the fork extension extension extension. Full...

Thank you AA. It's so nice to see another persons teeth knowing they are laughing and not getting ready to bite someone. Life is short brother. I was going to swing this over to the MV spotted thread but there is enough G749 preservation mixed with Yellow USMC iron we'll put it here. That...

Could you extort me out of the rod bolts instead? Getting conned just makes a fella look weak but being extorted takes skill so I would feel less gullible. I think we can set you up. Most Rod bolts are still in the connecting rods but we have some spare parts. As per Rusty and the rest of the...

Engine 3 is a RCEME https://rcemecorpsgemrc.ca/ rebuild from 1969 and the half circle molded in the pan sludge gave away the problems. These guys had a great reputation for quality rebuilds so it's curious why we couldn't find the nuts to the bolts that were supposed to hold the bearing on. DId...

Once you and Keppy laid it out I knew the cam had to come out and a press was best for removing the cam gear if we need to. Thanks fellas! It's just an oil pump, and it almost outsmarted me. Depending on where the engines are seized and where the crank sits, access to the oil pump bolt BD/BC...

1953 M-135 (CDN) Deuce complete restore / rebuild in Manitoba, Canada.

Welcome aboard. This is your first time posting here and the greeting crew often brings lobster so grab a plate. You're surrounded by support and books have been written to guide the process. On the Maple leaf up link you'll find Rob Love and maybe Brian Asbury. I ask these local fellas about...

I gotta admit Keppy I'm guilty of loaning the books out and really needed the lead....thank you. At one point 9-8025 was not available online but JATONKA has it up there........it's just labelled wrong. http://www.jatonkam35s.com/jatonkaM135-211sTMdownloadpage.htm...

Got three of the best engines ready for stripping but keep getting chased out by the rain. Jumped on it today and saw some real clean guts inside what appears to be an original block with an original plate. I'm a stripper! How does the oil pump come off? All I see in the book are two...

We made engine tear down life faster by pulling out the generator and using modern tools. Pulley pulling tools that can pull their weight around the G749 farm are a bonus. This stuff under the heads is also a bonus. When the head looks like this...... ....the top of the piston looks like...

    G749 preservation

We're almost certain we found a shiny cam among the neglected piston rust! Did some more tear down on the 302 crop to thin out the rows. If the plugs were pulled back in the day and some preservative oil spilled on top of the pistons, these things might have survived 40 years of storage...

That square body beast is the Light Support Vehicle Wheeled. LSVW. I guess Wheeled light support vehicle WLSV and Light Support Wheeled Vehicle LSWV were taken........or we blended some French language in there. LSVW just sounds better with or without the French accent...

Rusty, ........ I see MV's on the parade routes in Alberta. Quebec just battled the injustice of MV's being 'banned' and won....... British Columbia sucked some garbage info out of the AAMVA and is trying it on the crowd out west so we're watching that gong show. So far even the B.C. MV folks...

Thanks much Rusty. Some of us are fortunate enough to have good parents we can miss for twenty years. We were lucky. Good to see you....or read your typing. The 350 hooked to the GM Hydromatic would be awesome. Pulling hills with anything more than the 302 is a bonus. Re-engineering the...
