    Survival 109 build

Thanks zout. Well said. I'm not building the 109 for a show piece, for sure. I am happy to have an American flag be the focal point on my rig.

Power steering question...Saginaw gear and 395/85/20 tires

I had considerable interference with my steering arm and the 365 85 x 20's that I'm running. Had to extend the steering stop approx. 3/4". Does hurt right turning a good bit. Also trimmed the nut and arm end to help. Sorry for the wrong orientation of the first pic. Loaded correctly, now...

At least someone understands. I am proud of my country and I intend on showing it.

    Survival 109 build

Ok people, I have tried to display my flag on the left front bumper since the truck came with a mount there, figured it was better than no flag. Got reamed for that. So I removed it altogether, got chastised for that. So I painfully welded a mount on the right front bumper and now my flag is...

    Survival 109 build

Getting the truck spiffed up for the Fla. Winter Rally this coming week. Finished up the switch panel for the winch. Have a "coach" switch for disconnecting the RV portion from the battery bank while winching. Didn't want the spikes getting into the electronics. Also have a switch for hi amp...

Buy, Sell, Trade, Wanted - thread 2016 Florida Winter Rally on Feb 26, 27, and 28

Looking for a pair of deuce front bumper upper shackle mounts. Just need the mounts, not the shackles. Thanks!

    Survival 109 build

I'm using a 21.5" piece of threaded rod now. But apparently even though the bar calls for 3/4" pins, they actually are closer to 1/2". Thanks for the offer, but I'll just take back the two that I have now and get a 1/2" one. Crazy.

    Survival 109 build

Mostly finished up my tow bar mounting setup. Tried to get another 3/4" steel rod, found the smaller size STILL doesn't fit. Ugg. So just using some all thread for now. Made two brackets to secure it. With it in place, all four tow bar pieces are secured. Eventually I will have it...

    Survival 109 build

Thanks tD. Was wondering where to put it, but once I extended the front frame for the winch, tada, a new spot to fill.

    Survival 109 build

Thanks AA. No other place to put it. The lock bar will be where the threaded rod is now, on the drivers side end. Have to make a bracket or two for it.

    Survival 109 build

Despite crappy weather this weekend, got one more project mostly completed. Needed to have a place to secure my tow bar so I fabricated a mount for under my front frame extension. Used 4" PVC pipe and u bolts to hang the bars under the frame. Found out this afternoon that Lowes 3/4" steel rod...

    Winch and Bumper Project

Good work RS. My thought is you have too many bolts. Frame will bend near the spring hangers due to excessive weight of bolts. rofl

    Survival 109 build

I'll consider your ideas OD. But with 1/2" plate and 8 grade 8 5/8" bolts on the frame and 8.8 winch bolts and a cheap Chinese (?) winch, I'm not expecting it to move far.

    winch installs

Ha ha. I like the electric chair idea. No, that's part of my solar system. Check out my thread " Survival 109 build " for the details.

    winch installs

Finally got my el cheapo winch install finished today. Went with 12 volt since I have 8 deep cycle AGM batteries for the coach power in back.

Thanks Rusty. Fairly straightforward but I'd figure a better way of drilling holes!

    Survival 109 build

Bit slow today, but at least no rain. Finally got the winch fully installed and tested. Still need to finalize the power cable though. LOT of drilling! Ugg. But at least it shouldn't fall off.
