Good articles. I found an M998 dimensional data plate on my 2006 M1097R1, hidden under the insulation by the accelerator pedal. It also has date codes of 1993 on wheels and battery tray.

My R1 is in the 600000 range and still a 3 speed as well.

I just received a set of the 2018+ MT's from Feltz. They were all 2020 date codes and the lube was cleaned out already. The MT's on my 1097 are all 2005 dates with decent tread and hold air, but I don't trust the cracked sidewalls.

I machined a pod from bar stock for mine and attached with a hose clamp. Not only handy having it right in your face, but also a max temp line added too for quick reference.
