Mark,
I have followed the story of this track over the years and just want to let you know this is in my humble opinion, the coolest recovery/restore story on here and the "other"mv sites as well.
Truly inspiring.
Thanks for sharing!
Jim
Glad it got sorted out for you!
I was beginning to wonder if you hadn't somehow ended up with one of those ultra rare trucks (and thankfully, they ARE rare) that came equipped from the factory with electrical components made by Lucas.
Whew!
Jim
98G I believe you are spot on!!
Hopefully, without getting to political (and hopefully without getting kicked off here) I would say that LOTS of employees in LOTs of Govt. agencies are not of the conservative persuasion. The local DMV folks are no exception, and I can only guess the mentality...
Nice Trailer!
Aggravating that the data plate is missing--seems to be some kind of requirement for old stuff--kinda like on old vehicles "All glass MUST be broken-----------------"
Rant Off!
TM 9-881 is the manual for these- got my copy out and oddly enough it shows the M7 from two...
" Basic rules of flying: Try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges of it. The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly there."

Some guys are using button head allenhead type bolts to attach, then filling in the head to replicate a rivet. If you fill it with Bondo, at least you can pick the head clean and still unbolt the thing later if you need to.

I been lookin' for this local newspaper clipping from 2004. Finally found it while moving crap around here. No wonder I couldn't find the dang thing ---it was right exactly where it was supposed to be !
It is amazing how the guy with the camera just happened to be in the right place at...
Looking good!
Just a heads up for you. I had Les Schwab sandblast the wheels I found for my WLF wrecker. WAAY faster and cheaper than I could do it myself. Very nice job but I was amazed at the texture of the wheels. I'm guessing that because they are sandblasting to apply powdercoat, they...
Well, this local fellow got just a little too low--but then again he's still 60ft off the ground. I think he has his STOL technique DOWN!!
"Airstrip!?? Airstrip!?? We don't need no steeeenkin' airstrip- we'll just park in that tree!
This is just about 8 miles (by road) from my house. Right...
About 1985 I had the coupling that drives the fuel pump on my logtruck strip out--engine failure. Luckily I had just turned off the main road and was detouring around a bridge reconstruct project when it failed. It was after 6pm and neither the main highway nor the secondary (detour)road was...
WOW! Thanks for posting this up and welcome from Salmon River Country!
Not real up on armor prices (that will change just as soon as that winning lotto ticket shows up here). Seems like the British toys run cheaper and are easier to import than the Eastern Block stuff. But the eastern...
In looking at the date ,I hope I'm not too late with a suggestion.
With the help and clear description given by my buddies back in Maryland, I located my frame number on the WLF. Had a good layer of paint and rust covering it up.
I thought about sand paper but decided on paint remover first...
That thermometer reads WHAT!? Sheesh- I still have 1-2 feet of snow out here! My outside chores are still on hold.
Nice crane set up and the lift will make projects go a lot easier.

The Ward LaFrance M1A1 Heavy Wrecker is named "Papa's Lil' Home Wrecker". (Appropriate risque' WWII bare-bosomed nose art pending completion of repaint of vehicle.)

Congrats on the new Dodge project. Looks very complete and good shape-- a good start there.
You mention about doing a carb rebuild----------hhmmm-- two years ago I went to Montana and picked up a Chevy G506 1 1/2 ton truck. It had been sitting for about 10 years. I get it home and finally a...
