WoW!
This being my first diesel, I too was concerned about this so I posted a thread asking if this was a valid concern. The consensus of the forum was that run-aways were of no concern, and did not happen!
Now I am concerned again. I think I will install a brass valve to cut-off fuel supply...
I am no expert, but I recently upgraded from a 60 amp to 200 amp and now mine stays in the middle of the green no matter what accessories or lights, I have on.
As the others said, maybe a loose or corroded connection, regulator going funky, or battery developing a problem.
FWIW, I recall watching a "science" show on TV some years ago showing a Cold War EMP testing site. It was a wooden bridge that was built off a cliff, and had all kinds of massive electronic gizmos surrounding it that could generate a EMP. They would test large things, whole airplanes, tanks...
I just went through this a couple of months ago for my M998. I was upgrading to a 200 amp generator and I noticed a few drips coming out of the PS pump. I figured this was the time to do it as otherwise most of the stuff would have to come off again.
I got one off of Fleabay for $266. Yes, I...
Maybe mine is different, but I could NOT move the tranny/gearbox combo back far enough to get the flexplate off. The gearbox hit the fuel tank and there was not sufficient room to get the flexplate off. Maybe with the right tranny jack it could have tilted, but not working on my back with the...
I had the same problem last spring.
You can buy the GM one without the HMMWV tax.
Pretty much as the others stated. If you do not have a lift, just make sure you have a substantial hydraulic tranny jack as the tranny and transfer case is a heavy beast! Getting it down is easy, but getting it...
I went through this last year on my 92 M998 when I had to remove (most) of the system to upgrade to a 4L80 tranny and the exhaust disintegrated in my hands.
Performance options? Nah - you don't need ANY stink'in performance options. You drag racing your rig?
You might be able to find an old...
Well with me the M998 is definitely one step forward, three steps back. Lots of frustration.
I completed some of my "winter" assignments now that the Florida Inferno has abated 🔥
Replaced all the v-belts as a maintenance item.
After a lot of trial and error with different belt sizes, I...
I am a newbie so my knowledge is from the experienced forum members here.
I was able to do the swap on my back with a proper hydraulic tranny jack. The sucker is heavy with the transfer case attached so make sure you have something capable of lifting that beast.
I found the 4L80E plentiful as...
Wish there was some procedure that was easy when one has one glow plug totally seized and immovable, and inaccessable, and other that disintegrated the housing and left the threads in the head. aua
I live in the Florida Inferno so my take is that AC is required and since you have the compressor already I would vote get the system running.
Around here, you can rent a AC vacuum pump and set of gauges. Some local to me auto parts stores will even loan those out for free. But I bought a good...
I don't think it is a matter of needing extra amperage from the battery, but clean power and no interference from anything else that might be in the circuit.
Sorry I did not mean to give you the impression you have to relocate the throttle cable - you do not. Just the TPS sensor for fan clutch...
I am a newbie but I will attempt to answer.
I received a great deal of help from forum member @springer1981 and @Retiredwarhorses when I was moving from a TH400 to a 4L80 and he steered me to the US Shift.
To answer your questions:
Has anyone used a US Shift Quick 2 in their HMMWV?
I...
Newbie here so my experience is limited. I too bought a NOS switch from one of the notable vendors last year and after I disassembled it, I am now sure that it is really a Chineium clone fake as it look a tremendous amount of force to activate the cancel arm thingy and it would break multiple 3D...
I kind of had a similiar experience.
Being a newbie, I thought that disconnecting just the negative would totally kill power. Not so much! I had a shocking experience and learned to disconnect both the negative and the 24V terminals. I leave connected the terminals that go across the batteries...
All hail the Great and Mighty @3jacks !
I replaced my PS pump when I replaced my generator as I noticed a few drops of fluid and figured, while I am in there....
But I too got the dreaded squeal of a million fingernails across the cault board and I was pulling the little hair I have out trying...
Bingo! Found the cause of the sound. The 💩 plastic evaporator fans gernaded and shreaded themselves into mess of shrapnel
I found possible replacement fans but it might be easier just to rip out the whole Chinesiumcrapulum and replace the unit.
At least the Florida Inferno is outta here!
