And to go along with what Gunzy mentioned if the cable is wound backwards (cable exiting to the front of truck from the bottom of the winch drum) you will have no power to actually pull with. Cable should come over the top of the drum and then under the front roller out to the front of the truck.
If you cruise along at 55-60 mph on level ground you should see around 7-8mpg with the 8.3L with your estimated weight unless the fuel has been turned up, over 60 mph and your economy will drop.
To get close to the 10-12 mpg you will be driving on the road at about 50-55 mph over 55 and the fuel gets drank faster. The increased un-sprung weight of 1600's will slow your acceleration as well as increase your stopping distances. If level ground is your primary driving then the 1600's...
Likely your PCB (Power Control Box) is need of replacement or a rebuild with the master switch testing out good. It is located on the drivers side firewall just next to the Washer fluid bottle.
That many miles I would load the trailer into the back (use your AAA membership!) and tow the jeep. That way if you do have problems with the MV you can drive the jeep to get parts or food if broke down in the middle of no-where (minimal traffic that could give a lift to you)
I know we have some and worse case the next time I am down at the ranch I will snap a pic of it as it is kept in one of the sheds. We haven't used it in probably close to 20 years but my dad loved it so he never sold it but eventually sold off the team to one of our neighbors and neither my...
BTW I need to say Thank you! For bringing up some fond memories of my Dad for me today. When I was young I would love it when he would break out the one horse buggy and ride into town in it or even better was him taking my friends and our dates to one of our school dances in the stage coach...
Good eye Ahab. Yes, I grew up on a ranch so we have horses & cattle. I personally have only done two but my dad could do a full 6 horse team which is a handful! The one you spotted is getting ready to be restored by my friends who own the place where I get to keep my trucks & trailers
I like it. I ended up also putting one on my M923a2 so both have one. I have driven thru a couple of moderate rain storms and when I got back I pulled the filter cap and it was basically dry inside so very little water actually made it down the tube. It would really need to be a long drive...
So I am not double posting the same info http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?118121-Mntsnow-s-recovery-and-building-of-The-Beast&p=1836477&viewfull=1#post1836477 is what I did today.
Wow....Long time without any posts as I have just been enjoying and using the trucks but this past week I have started working on fixing a couple of small things to make getting thru the upcoming state safety inspections that are due for license plate renewals the end of this month (923) and the...
The Fuel Transducer is part of the ICE diagnostics package for the M939 trucks. It is only needed when doing diagnostics with the ICE interface.
Unplug the transducer & Remove it and then put a plug in the open port of the primer/lift pump.
Gottaluvit,
"US TACOM" is the Manufacturer and it shouldn't be that hard to figure out the year of the trailer and then GP can issue a SF-97 or have a titled issued. Attached is images from my 1987 TACOM M105a2 SF97 & Re-Assignment which got me a Utah title & plates without issue.
The Original Poster's (posted in 2009) data plate shows a delivery date of 1953 made by Checker Motor Corp.
The trailer that Juan linked to sure looks to be a standard run of the mill M105a2 with the usual service & emergency air line connections.
