Looked up the doghead mod and didn't find the original post. Seems like it must have been posted more than 15 years ago. I did find a post referring to it and it directed me to look up this part specifically. It's listed at 12v, 300 amp. Is this correct?

Slaughtered the budget this month ordering this bumper with a jerry can carrier. Made to order and turnaround is lengthy, so I have time to think about what I've done. If anybody's got an extra M1009 wheel, let me know. Hillbilly Wizard is asking more than I want to spend for a matching spare...
I live in a sandbox. Cats crap in sandboxes. I live in a cat box. I often forget this. I was reminded of this today. Face first. Immediately lost interest in my motor mounts. Another time.
Turned out I couldn't find any at all except for a guy on eBay sitting on a pile of surplus NOS and asking $300 apiece. At that price, I got into my junk box, pulled one off a seized DB2, and tried it out. Worked great, and I liked the price a lot better.
Was really looking forward to how cheap parts would be on a truck that has had overstock sitting on shelves for decades all over the world. Also, in case anybody wondered, the black plastic vacuum doodad on the side of your injector pump is GM #14057219 aka NSN #4820-01-158-6836. Nobody is...
Did the rear springs today. Nuts and bolts are 7/8" and 13/16". U-bolt nuts are 15/16". Reused the original hardware because it was fine. Finally replaced the last shock. I was stalling on it because I didn't want to drop the tank, but we just cut the bolt off this morning. Suspension is all...
Decided to skip working on the truck this morning and took it out instead. Had it in 4L a couple times and found that it's perfectly comfortable doing things that I'm not. At a trail washout, there was a spot with broken glass and bumpers lying on the ground. Some people really tore their...
This morning I went to R&R the last bushing on the front springs. Passenger side shackle top. Started tapping it out and found that it backs into the bank 2 exhaust. Looked up at those three nuts on the collector. Thought about how they've heat cycled a thousand times and rust has been...
At 40 years of age, I'd say the OEM bushings looked pretty good.
The brakes were squealing, so I replaced the pads. Still squealing. I guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet.
I actually hadn't installed the upper shackle bushings on the front end, so I set about that this morning. Had spent some time looking around online for any example I could find of how it's done, since I don't know what I don't know and that's a good way to find out. No luck, so here's my...
It's even worse than I suspected. I had to go digging quite a bit in search results to find this:
Center inlet Dynomax Super Turbos have an atrocious baffle design. I'm experiencing secondhand embarrassment for whoever engineered this mess. Will open them up and modify them somehow. There's...
Running a HMMWV IP because it's all I could find at the time. The timing is turned up pretty good and the intake is wide open, but it could still benefit from moving more air. Preferably without sounding obnoxious. Dynomax Super Turbos seemed to fit the bill, so I ordered a couple, and they...
As far as cheap junk from China goes, this panoramic clip-on mirror was worth every penny. Visibility and clarity were both substandard with the OEM mirror. It was pretty scratched up among other problems. With this thing, I just rotated it until I wasn't looking at my own reflection and now...
Seemed like an odd place. They probably just have cheaper labor than China. Please refrain from discussing narcotics in my threads. The only thing hard about doing the mounts is the crud falling in your face. The Energy Suspension mounts are more expensive than I expected, but I practically got...
Discovered this morning that the bottom bracket on the power steering pump had fallen off. Thankfully, it had just rotated out of position, rather than being missing entirely. Don't know how long it had been like that, but the top of the pulley had worn a groove into the mount and the bottom of...
Poked around under the truck and installed cotter pins in all the castle nuts that the previous owner's mechanic didn't. Just glad nothing fell off between then and now. Rear springs are scheduled to arrive Tuesday.
