Should be kinda fun. Wheeler Dealer is doing an episode on a Humvee on 2 Jan.

Don't be so paranoid. It is a TV Show and that stuff is scripted.

    6.5 W/ Over Drive vs 6.2 W/ 3 Speed

AM General has been strongly against Humvees being in civilian hands, except for Arnold, from the very beginning so do you really think they are going to call you back?

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

Try contacting Advance Adaptors. They will have an adaptor for your job.

    200/400 Amp Alternator, Drawbacks?

Your belts are going to have to turn that heavier 400 amp armature so expect a bit of power loss when revving up the engine. There was a problem with the 200 amp alt when the first serpentine belt setup came out. When the engine would decelerate, the Armature would want to keep turning and would...

    DIY Tire Balancing

I have Balance Masters. I got these, because you can hear the steel balls in the Centramatics when you are starting off or coming to a stop. The heads of the studs that hold the two halves of the wheels together come into contact with the disk of the Balance Masters, but it is flexible and...

    HMMWV door?

That looks like the doors that were being put on Humvees when the 2003 Iraq War began. It does seem to have a bend in it so it might have been made in the US, but I saw lots of articles in the news of that type of armored door being fabricated and installed over there along with that "Gun Truck"...

    Replacing M998 Fan Questions

You need to rotate the part that the fan was attached to so you can have the four allen head bolts appear in the four holes so you can unscrew them. You could try loosening or removing the little screws at the rear of the clutch assy that tighten the phenolic piece. That should allow you to...

1987 6.2L Weeping Coolant Between Head and Block Front Left Corner, how to fix?

Don't forget that GM used torque to yield bolts for the head bolts. They are probably cheaper! Jerks! They are a one time use bolt so buy new ones if you pull the heads. If it is tiny leak, then just watch the coolant level until spring time then maybe fix it.

Hummer Engine and Transmission in a Humvee?

The engine, trans and transfer will work just fine. The transfer case should be the NP242 which will be the same as what is in the Humvees with that transfer case, except that the tail shaft extension is different, because the Hummer didn't use the speedo gear and cable like the Humvee did. It...

Please help me identify this wire

That wire with the knob and tube insulation goes down to the starter.

DLA contacting you about the status of your hummers

I have had them contact me over a year after I bought a Military Generator as surplus. They wanted me to fill out an EUC so they are watching and you never know when they will contact you.

    M998 HMMWV Rebuild/Repair Alexandria, VA

Maybe you should change your two radiator hoses and the bypass hose and then clean the area and see if you still have a leak.

    Original Marine HMMWV Auction

Those vehicles were sold by the auction houses for United Defense and they got them from the USMC. I got my first Humvee from the Riverside Auction and someone later told me that it had been in Okinawa Japan based on the stenciled numbers on the body.

A few questions about "is this normal for a HMMWV"

Sounds like your truck is working as designed. The glow plugs cycling are causing the voltage drop when started. You might watch for leaks at the geared hubs. These are the most weird thing on this vehicle that most people won't be familiar with, unless they have have worked with farm equipment...

    Upgrading a M998

Yup, there have been all sorts of upgrades to the Humvee over the years, but the original vehicle was plenty heavy duty. The upgrades took care of weak points so they should be looked at and as a matter of fact, the early parts are almost impossible to find so you pretty much have to use the...

what type of hummer/humvee is this?

    The doors look good!

HMMWV Rough Idle, Surging now Dead no Restart.

Well, you might replace the fuel hoses since you are going through the system. Might be cracked or loose near the fuel tank and sucking air. Even if it isn't, the fuel hoses have probably been there for a long time so a change would be a good safety item to check off of the list.
