What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Only thing I did with my truck: Pick up a shopping cart for my mom's acting club. And tested my resoldered trailer plug. Wich I am happy to report as all systems go! More info on that in the "what did you do to your trailer" topic, as it involves a lot of reading.

What did you do to your trailer today.

I have to admit i was a bit scared, but my sisters boyfried helped me with the soldering. He has a bit more experience with wires and solder. Also, we did this outside, as we don't have a garage or so for cover. Once i learned how to dismantle the big plug, I practiced first on another bad plug...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Bought a Dutch ex-army trailer. A Saris 10 KN. The whole trailer is almost like new. A very small cut in the tarp, that gets repaired on thursday by a company here in town. Brakes are good, bearings are good, even all the lichts work. Well, the tail lights didn't work, but is getting repaired...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just found the culprit for the non-functioning tail lights. at least, I think I found it. First measured if all the pins connected to ground, all but pin J did. Put a ground wire on pin D and 12V + to pin J (lights), nothing happened. Put a ground wire to pin D and a 12V + to a wire going into...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Since I regretted selling my M101 with shelter, I was looking for a small cheap caravan to paint camo and, ofcourse, tow behind the truck. As usual, nothing suited my needs and the caravans that were for sale online, went for way to much money. Saturday afternoon, it hit me, I should look for...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I was asked by someone if I was interested to drive my M1028 to a gala/prom/something. Met the guy and his niece, showed my truck, she loved it! Only thing she said: don't wash it! Sure, will not wash my truck, that is the job of mother nature (rain). So 3 weeks later I stood in a cue to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Is a M101 tough to find there? And an S250 shelter? the reasons for selling were: -I don't use it very often, more like a spare shed. -No room to stand up straight. -Sleeping area too small in width, was afraid I would roll off. -The weight(distribution) of the combo was not of my likings...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Didn't do anything, just drove around, saw an old friend, chatted and asked him to be on the lookout for 2 new 33x12.5x16.5 tires. Still contemplating if it was a good idea to sell the trailer with shelter combo..

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Since the last time I was here: Sold my M101 trailer with S-250 shelter to a guy who made a bid on it. Last january he bid €1000.- for it and a few days ago I thought, what do I care, sell it. Did have to clean it out and remove my trucks license plate, but he kept to his original bid. Also...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Finally did a testdrive. Shifting issue is almost completely gone, guess the silicone sealant did its job. The glowcard issue is also resolved, cause of problems were the contacts. Did notice some resistors on the card are missing, but it still functions just great. Should I worry about those...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Found the sticky. Funny thing is, the initial glow, before starting is good, the afterglow is causing trouble. The easiest fix is plug it in to glow, pull out, start and drive. Also, getting a new card is easier said than done here, hard to get. I did ask around, but most people advise to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Pulled the glowcard, as it lets the relay chatter after starting. So now searching for the most simple way to bypass it, because without glowing, my truck will not start. :( Also used some silicone putty to close all the possible places where the vacuum tubes can possibly leak. Now to let it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Did a little chore for my mom, went to get a sofabed for her. The bed of my Chevy was big enough for the little thing. Still shifting late, but did not have the opportunity to seal the vacuum tubes. Maybe this saturday, or go to the parts store for wiper fluid tubes, as suggested a few posts...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

M1008 would be around 3500 as car, and obviously more now it is registered as a truck. Mine is now 4263kg max weight.. same truck, 4kg difference.. Try jacking up the front axle, lock the hubs and spin 1 wheel. there should be a limited slip diff in there. (result is 2 wheels spinning in the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Update on the shifting issue: Replaced vacuum lines with rubber fuel hoses, as the parts store did not have simple small rubber lines. I did need to shave the lines down to fit on the regulator, but it was all air tight. Also, I used clamps to make air tight seals on the plastic connectors...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That was my plan also, to replace the rubber and re-use the reducers. That block will be discarded, as it bends the line to the transmission too much.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Found the culprits of the shifting issue, looks like I have to get some vacuum lines.. The rubber divider thingy in the palm of my hand is rotten too, but in my opinion just a part that can be discarded, right?

Not yet. As light is fading here, going to check my books and manuals to try and find the culprit tomorrow morning.
