If you need to use the system that Hoefler describes above for the HEMTT wheels you just use the steel spacer on the inboard side and use the longer thimbles for the aluminum wheels on the thick double steel wheels. Here is a link...

Ok....I'll try to help with nominations as well. :)
For this month I would like to nominate Justin Wehring's other cool machine:
This bad boy is an M1074 Oshkosh PLS with a flat rack on the hook and a M114 loaded on it.
The entry is for the PLS though.

The front studs are plenty long enough to run the HEMTT wheels, but you have to grind/turn down the lip on the front brake drums for the wheels to fit properly. If you have not done that then that's why the front studs seem to short....your wheel is not seated all the way.

A BIG GIANT THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY!!!!! You guys are the best! I really am truly honored to have the M920A1 picked from a pool of such awesome military vehicles! Every one of the entries would have certainly deserved to be picked and I feel that this is the nicest compliment the great people...
Sorry guys....I have to finish a gasoline to diesel conversion in a client's XM474 before we can go full blast on the 'Adventure HET' project. We had some down time, waiting for the 6V53 Detroit / Allison power pack, that's why we started on the HET.
Well, in the mean time, I guess I could do...
Thanks Scootertrs,
I would like to try the Fireade 2000 and went on their website. According to them the closest distributor for it is on the east coast! I'm in New Mexico and was wondering if by any chance you would know if there is a nation wide distributor for the Fireade 2000?
Thanks Soni
Fsm plumbing done.....!
So after installing the pump, we got all the plumbing done today. It is a 6hp Yanmar diesel pump that will move 65 gallons per minute against a 50 foot head, is self priming and has one 1 1/2" and two 1" outlets.
I fired it up for a test run earlier and I'm quite...
I'm pretty sure the rear brake chambers are just a standard type 30-30 commercial brake chamber. Any truck supply house should carry them. Or you can buy the whole thing new for $40-50. All you have to do is cut the threaded actuating rod to the same length as the one on the old one and change...
The -10 TM probably does not want to confuse the drivers by separating the two actions. It is absolutely ok to engage and disengage the front axle while moving, as long as there is NO wheel spin on ANY of the other axles.
Not so much for the low range engagement. This should only be done when...
Here are some additional pics from the 2013 move of D&RGW locomotive #315 from Durango, CO to Chama, NM.
This is of course all just a cold and calculated 'campaign move', aimed at putting the hurt on the competition.....lol

I have worked for a month on a Grove crane, that had very similar symptoms, last spring. It was mounted on a PLS M1074. These trucks are equipped with a variable output hydraulic system, that turned out to be the source of my problems!
The reason the functions are all weird and erratic is...
It's called "Iron PLANET".....not "Iron RELIABILITY"......lol I'm sure he will be there.
Good luck with your haul....I picked one up a few weeks ago at Ft. Carson, Co and had to drag it over 3 mountain passes in a blizzard.... :( Mine towed great!

Pump and Hose REEL for the FSM....
We are making pretty good progress on the FEMTT's 'FSM' and are just about down to some wiring and plumbing.
The 1" 'Booster Hose' power reel is painted and installed and the manifold that connects the front and rear 600 gallon compartment is in place.
All we...
Got it....my bad!!! Will be careful not to go past "Adventure Motorhome".....lol
Thanks For the good "advise" USAFSS-ColdWarrior, I did not even think about that.....

Today, I installed a Code 3 MX 7000 light bar on the cab of the FEMTT in anticipation of it's use in FIRE SERVICE this summer. I'm working on getting the diesel powered water pump and the hose reel installed in the rear compartment of the FSM.
Had not had a chance to take pics of that...
I had talked to Castle Bravo about this issue and just remembered how I 'fixed' it on my M920. I cut the exhaust tubing right behind the turbo flange and welded in a piece that I cut from the lower, horizontal section of the tubing, after it makes the S-curve down. this moves the down part far...
