Fuel filter and fuel pump mod

Same for most anywhere in New Mexico. I had been hoping he'd post more photos, or describe his troubleshooting steps a bit further.

Cucv back to stock glow plug controls

Agreed. Help us to help you, by showing us what you're working with. Wide photos that show us the big picture, especially.

Fuel filter and fuel pump mod

Member "bigmike" is the closest active member that I'm aware of... He's roughly an hour away from the OP, in good traffic.

Fuel filter and fuel pump mod

The glow plug relay has two small terminals with two small wires attached: the positive wire (+) is pink with a black stripe, and the negative wire (-) is light blue... To manually close the relay with the key turned forward to the "on/run" position, you simply need to connect the the light blue...

    Gen 1 light on

Yikes! Good thing it happened at home, and not driving down the road, or at a stoplight, or across town somewhere.

    M1009 starter still sticking.

It's a very common problem to have a missing starter support bracket. As was noted by the guys above, all CUCVs should have the bracket... If you're missing the bolt that threads into the engine block side of the bracket, you should be able to pick up a 9.8 or 10.9 bolt at ACE Hardware, Tractor...

M1009 transmission service.. hopefully a bad joke?

^ Agreed. That looks like the spacer that goes between the trans filter and the valve body.

    Electrical harness identification

You are correct. Per some of your photos in this thread, your original starter relay has (more or less) been bypassed. The solid (no stripe) purple wire you see coming out of your original starter relay is the one that we noticed is cut on the engine side of the firewall, shown below... If you...

    Electrical harness identification

No, these are your starter, GEN2, and 24v voltmeter relays. All three mount to a silver-colored bracket under the dash, shown below.

    Crank, no start, white smoke.

The most common fixes for the stock fuel base are to remove the fuel pressure switch and plug the remaining hole, or to get a freeze plug of the correct size and drive it in... Most guys seem to have better luck just plugging the hole. Some searching here in the CUCV section will turn up a few...

    M1008 turbo and serpentin swap

In the -20 TM under Appendix F, Figure F-13 shows a couple gray wires in the same area as your photos... Circuit 8E fed the illumination bulb behind the heater controls, while Circuit 8F fed the bulb inside the 24v Voltmeter. The PO may have clipped the second circuit, leaving you with just the...

    Crank, no start, white smoke.

Top line (large hose) is the input/supply from the lift pump, bottom line (small hose) is the output/delivery to the IP. Fuel filter could be clogged or obstructed, or the fuel pressure sensor could be leaking and caused an air pocket in the filter... Try cracking open the black bleeder screw...

    M1008 turbo and serpentin swap

Thinking out loud: these 1988-1995 serpentine belt setups should work for most 24v CUCVs, so long as... 1) the CS-130 can be modified to accept an isolated ground stud in lieu of an AC compressor delete pulley, use a passenger side alternator bracket from the 1996-2000 serpentine setup for...

    M1008 turbo and serpentin swap

Just browsed through this, and loved the detail you went through and the info you provided! I'm following this thread for sure, need some inspiration for my civilian 6.2L K10 Suburban.

    New m1028, crank no start

Bummer about the flywheel... All in all, the wiring actually doesn't look too bad...just needs a few things rerouted, reconnected, or performed a little differently. The wiring that feeds the glow plug relay is not ideal, as the full current load of the glow plugs is being supplied...

    New m1028, crank no start

:!: ...I'm only recommending this under the assumption that you're 100% certain that the starter is a 24v model... :!: The quick and dirty method will be to connect the passenger-side of the current starter relay directly to the upper (+) 24v bus bar... However, you will want to protect this...

    New m1028, crank no start

The large bundle of electrical tape above your fuel filter housing...are all of those wires spliced together under the tape? Just confirming that none of that wiring is connected to the upper bus bar. Your current starter relay appears to be pulling 12v power from the glow plug relay...

    New m1028, crank no start

The stock/Doghead relay has 4 wired connections because the relay does NOT ground through its own mounting bracket. Your current relay is most likely self-grounding. The yellow wire seen above on your current relay is the trigger wire, and is most likely tied into either circuit #5 or...
