    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

Ok, been doing some more research. What would ballpark price be on an A3 model with the Cat diesel and Allison tranny? How much does it cost to have one bobbed? Saw several videos online of the bobbed A3 and it looks very sharp and seems to be nicer driving with the automatic tranny. I noticed...

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

What is the ballpark pricing on a 5 ton?

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

Automatic tranny would be nice, but I don't mind a manual either. Depends on the pricing I suppose.

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

I do have a lot of experience driving large and heavy trucks. My family farms and the first stick shift I learned to drive was a 13 speed Ford 10-wheeler grain truck. I'm very confident in my driving abilities, just not in my mechanical abilities.

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

Winch is awesome, but for my needs probably not worth the cost and would likley never be used. That's good to know about the price. I would just prefer to buy something that's been repaired and inspected by someone knowledgeable rather than an unknown private seller who may be unloading their...

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

Memphis is only a few hours away actually. I live in southeast Missouri. Now I haven't really started looking at prices yet from these places, but what kinda price could I expect to oay for a good condition truck that's been gone through by one of these shops? Is $10k not going to be enough? On...

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

I know this probably a bad idea, but I've wanted one for a long time. I have zero experience with MVs and very little experience in automotive mechanics in general. I know buying one from a surplus site is out of the question for me and I'm thinking private party sales might also be too much of...

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

I just wanted to give everyone a update on my thread and say thanks to everyone who commented and sent PMs. I bid on a 002a on GL, but didn't win. I ended up buying a used/like new Generac XG8000E locally. It had 1.9 hours on it and I paid $900. Still looks brand new. The Generac is a 10k...

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

Thanks! That's great to know! Transport is who I was talking about. Doesn't sound like I should rely on them for service though. Having a forum resource that close is great news! I may be messaging you if I find one and have some questions.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

I'm keeping an eye out for a really good 002 unit right now. I've got a few options that are further away than I'd like so I'm keeping an eye out for something a little closer first.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

That sounds like exactly what I'd want. Looks like you're about 10 to 11 hours away though. If I can't find anything like that closer, I will be contacting you.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

Ok, after letting all this sink in I think I've finally decided on the 002a, even if it won't power my central air. I see now that there's probably no reason to waste money on fuel to cool the entire house if I lose power for more than a few days. I can move to the basement and stay cool for a...

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

Didn't know that. I'll check with some neighbors. One is an electric company foreman.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

After watching countless videos and reading hvac forums, I'm going to try to determine the "inrush amp draw" (just learned that) for my a/c compressor. Once I figure out what that is, I'll post it here and see if anyone can tell me if the 002a will be big enough. I just have to buy a clamp on...

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

I have zero electrical knowledge. I don't own a multi meter and would have no idea how to use one.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

Ok. However, I don't live on a farm. I live in a small subdivision on 6 acres. My family lives on a farm about an hour and a half south of me. That's where I have access to the diesel. I'm not a handy man by any stretch. I change oil in my vehicles and rotate tires, but that's about the extent...

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

I have considered that. But that still doesn't help my concerns with working on and servicing an MEP unit.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

I've looked into the standby units and they are more than I want to spend. Looking at close to $10k for everything done and ready to go.

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

Another option someone pointed out to me was that I might consider a pto generator. I can get a 12 kw or 13 kw for about $1500 and just use it on the back of my tractor. Problem with that is I'd probably be needing to use my tractor in the event that power went out, either for snow and ice...

    002 or 003 for 3.5 Ton A/C Unit?

There's no question that the 003 will outperform most every other unit. The concern is whether I'll be able to maintain it up to the point when the times comes for me go use it. It's not going to shine much at all if it has a problem that I can't fix.
