I have LEDs for headlights and added LED route clearance lights to the front that are wired into the high beams of the headlights. I love them, but I have not looked at or seen on another vehicle the HIDs. I have had no problems with the LEDs.
I mounted mine in the same location that eagle4g63 did. Used the existing holes, wired them up to work when high beams are on with my LED headlights. Burn your retina if not careful !!!
We use Power Service here at work. But read the bottle becasue at below zero degrees you have to double up on it. We also use #1 diesel when it really gets cold. We are 15-20 below again this weekend.

I too have had similar issues after long trips. As recently as this past Sunday. I thought I had cleaned the vents prior, but apparently not good enough. New ones to be purchased. Just a little frustrating since the seals were just done about 1500 miles ago. Good input and suggestions. Thanks
