The $20 Winter Front for 939's

Now that winter is coming to a close, I got a winter front. I'd seen the mil-spec versions and thought they were nice, but I'm frugal. I was on McMaster-Carr, sometimes I like to window shop. I saw they had heavy duty 3' by 3' OD green tarps in flame resistant material. For $13...

Crimp tool and mods for packard connectors

It says 12-20awg in the description, I would think the connectors would be close but it's hard to say without knowing what it's for. The description also lists Caterpillar and Harley Davidson mechanics, maybe one of those will chime in. I bought a used AF-8 for $50 because I wasn't sure if it...

Crimp tool and mods for packard connectors

Think this crimper would work? http://www.amazon.com/Closed-Barrel-Contact-4-indent-Crimper/dp/B002CCISPS/ref=pd_sim_hi_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=00MMWM3MGFHNQ7H2609K Seems to have a fixed depth, that may be an issue if it's not right for the Packard connectors. But for $32, you might just be able to...

    5ton parking brake

The TM doesn't cover what he wants to do, if someone has done it, and how they accomplished doing it if it has been done. It also doesn't cover any thoughtful input from knowledgeable and helpful members such as "If you're doing this to get rid of the buzzer, it will/won't work because blah blah...

What does your M939 series truck weigh.

My M923A2 with wood troop seats, bows and cover, soft top, 3/4 tank of fuel and 220 driver scaled at 21,700.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I did reuse the tamperproof torx that came with the other handles, and for the driver's side I had to take the handle apart and grind the little stop out to make it spin the right way.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I bought some locking door handles for my A2 when I got it, they were garbage. After getting locked out of my own truck, I took them off and replaced them with much cheaper and higher quality "locking square shank L handles" that actually work. I had to cut the shank to fit lengthwise, but that...

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

Got mine stuck today in my driveway, slow speed turn through a long drift. Well, it was only stuck until I flipped the lever for the steer axle. :)

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Today I did a couple little things. I put a block heater in my 923A2 a while back, and I wanted the plug easier to get to. I bought a Marinco plug pass-through and mounted it on the hood. It seals up nicely. Even though the back side is basically exposed, I wanted something that would keep the...

    Red Footwell lights

I use a lot of forums, and I understand this forums reason for having the rule even if I disagree. I even contacted a moderator about the feature that allows uploading from a link on another forum I use that would solve their "problem". You very well may lose photos due to dead links and...

    Red Footwell lights

Agreed, the image rules here are...unique. I've certainly not posted images just because it's such a pita. It's a shame.

    Red Footwell lights

I have the white version of these for license plate lights, they seem to work well. http://www.amazon.com/LED-Convenience-Courtesy-Light-Waterproof/dp/B0045DZTKE/ref=sr_1_47?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1421452778&sr=1-47 The company offers blue, and other styles too...

    939 heaters

I haven't used my truck when it's super cold yet, I haven't had the need. But I do know the heater with the soft top was going to be an issue, it just wasn't confidence inspiring when it was in the 30's. I have a Big Buddy heater for ice fishing that I have been planning on securing in the cab...

    splice into electric system

I was going to pose a similar question, I wanted to know where people were tapping in so I could get power to switch a relay.

Soft Top Install Question m939 923a2

Mine was just resting on top of the cab metal, but facing the interior like a poor kind of flashing to keep dust out. I put heavy duty magnets on it about every 4 inches, sealing it much better to the metal cab.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I did the mock up for the 14" OPT7 light I got for xmas. Still waiting on the wiring harness and a I ordered a few different fasteners to standardize everything, but I think it's going to work well.
