Mikey, I'd be real interested in seeing your build blog on this..Always thought this type was the ultimate camper/truck mount..down for travel up for space..
always liked the unicats with this..too pricey though..

The deuces and 715's (also had a wrecker, M37, 151 jeep, etc..) I drove in the AF ( Tac Control Squadron at Cannon AFB/New Mexico) in the early 70's weren't camo or blue..All were straight OD color..

Thanks Frank...here's more info and a pic of that same truck config..
Standard Catalog of U.S. Military Vehicles - 2nd Edition - David Doyle - Google Books
scroll up to the page above ( page 68 ) to see what it could look like.. info on MB2 on page's 67 and 69..
another pic here...
I found a reference to that config labeled as a M56 (with Gichner body). I see that the plate says MB2 on yours however..
although this page doesn't mention that fire body type but shows M56's in other configs.. maybe just cab/chassis variant makes it an M56, no matter what body is...
here's the bill..search for 31406 (narrative should be second hit..)

maybe this has been asked before, but your avatar pic shows seemingly, alot of frame flex..was the box mounted differently from stock to provide for articulation? or maybe just the photo angle..nice workmanship..
