CTIS support by CM AUtomotive Systems

I also appreciate the support, I had called about a broken PSI transducer. And CM automotive sent me one for FREE. no shipping even. This hasn't fixed all my CTIS problems yet but I'm getting there. Thanks.

    M35A3 Transmision question.

I'm pretty sure I wil remove and replace it myself, but the actual rebuild is Not something I have done before. I might tackle it if it's not to tough, but the parts are $$ and I would hate to do all that work and have something go wrong. There is an authorized allison dealer in this state...

    So is there a cure?

Yes, there is a cure. It's called a dirt nap, 6 feet under. We will all "get" the cure someday, until then ride 'er for all it's worth!

M35A3: Driving the Green Wobbly School Bus?

You take the large lug nuts that hold the CTIS covers on, and switch them to the other side of the wheel. Then you use 3/4-16 regular nuts to hold the CTIS shield on. Furthermore you can add some extra 3/4-16 nuts on the opposite side of the shield to help reduce the imbalance.

    M35A3 Transmision question.

The Allison Dealer I talked to after the pressure test says. Its my fourth gear clutch pack going bad. Major Bummer. He figures the old oil may have been building enough PSI to let the transmission work but it would have failed pretty quickly.

    M35A3 CTIS question

I found that my tires were leaking at the "o" ring junction (at the split rim) and the valve stem "o" ring. With the CTIS off the tires should hold pressure. 4 of 7 tires of mine had to be dismounted and sealed up (new 'O' rings) for them to hold air for more than a couple of days.

    M35A3 Transmision question.

I previewed all 4-5 trucks in the lot, and they all seemed about the same to me. It was pretty hard to do a thorough inspection on them all, due to time constraints. And I don't know what could have been done to find aout if there was a bad transmission anyhow. They won't let you take them for...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

I did the pressure test today, Bought some compression fittings, a 0-300 psi gauge and some 1/8 dia. copper tubing. Hooked it all up and... 150 psi at idle in neutral, 150 psi in drive, 40 psi in reverse, apx 135 psi when it tries to go to fourth. If I rev the engine in reverse, the PSI goes up...

Look at the 13 hp Diesel engines I picked up today

Pretty sure those run at 1800 rpm, where the lister runs at 600 rpm. FWIW Make a real nice generater set?

    CTIS Theory questions.

Bobferrin, I have a couple of questions/comments. 1st, I noticed in the TM that they want you to test the OHMs to ground at the controller and the manifold. Did you do this? 2nd, where did you find the seals for your hubs? Thanks for the informative write up, this will help me...

Title a deuce in Wisconsin lately?

Titling/registering a Duece with Historic Military Plates is no problem. Did it myself with a m35a3 out of Ft Mcoy just recently, (middle of Feb.) Didn't take more than 7 day's after I sent my info in via Certified, Return recipt requested, mail..... Now, do I wish I could register this...

M35A3: Driving the Green Wobbly School Bus?

Yup, a short bus. But a Bad A$$, high/low range, military, 6 wheel drive, short bus. I even drool a little, and wear ear muffs, (but no helmet) when I drive mine. Have you done the wheel lug nut swap/add on? I did and it helped ALOT, however when the tires all sync-up it still hops some. I...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Before the change in fluid, the engine RPM's would drop the same amount in drive or reverse. At Idle. (apx 100 rpm with a defenite "Clunk"). Now when going into reverse there is no "clunk" and very little, if any RPM drop. I have a 1545 transmission. Before the change, first to second gear...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Their was a small amount of black dirt in the bottom of the pan. I could have/did wiped it out with 2-3 paper towels. I changed the fluid because allison recommends dexron III as do several members here. I went for a drive today after verifying that the linkage is timed correctly and the fluid...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

It is slipping, when it tries to shift to fourth it revs up and never really "locks in". Reverse doesn't drop the engine RPM like putting it in drive does. It will back up but engine RPM has to be double what it used to be.

    M35A3 Transmision question.

OK, the truck was bought in the same auction as glcaines, it has about 2500 mi and 300 hours on it. I think it's in pretty good shape. The next step is to do a psi check on the transmission. There is a 1/8 npt port above the shift cable, the allison tech says I should have 125 psi at idle and...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Well. I'm ****ed. pulled the tranny pan, changed the internal filter, and still no love. The Ali$$on dealer say's almost definitely the fourth gear clutch is shot. The reason reverse doesn't work is that the transmission uses first and fourth gear clutches to engage reverse. The guy at GL...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

OK, I changed the external filter, and purged the tranny cooler valve, no air came out, it was straight atf from the get go. The original oil does have a burnt smell to it but the color was about motor oil color. I have a call in to a local alli$$on dealer. We will see where this goes....
