Hello, New guy from S.E. Pennsylvania.

Hi Randy, Welcome to the site! The CUCV, in my opinion, is the most "user friendly" military vehicle available! They have heat, power steering, power brakes, do highway speed easily, and have the majority of their parts available at your local auto parts store. Since you're obviously a fan...

OFFICIAL RC RALLY 08' CONVOY THREAD

RE: Pilot stop works for me . . . I think I might be better off in the Northbound serial, as I'm closer to I-83 than I am to I-78. That said, I'm still not sure what times and days I can attend yet. That will be finalized this weekend, then I'll post my intentions. I may tow my M1007...

    towing

I flat towed a schoolbus with a single axle F600 dump truck, and jacknifed in a 5 mph 120 degree turn on a paved road. Follow the advise of someone who tried to save a few bucks, and get it towed! I bent up a medium tow bar when the bus went straight, when I wanted to turn! BTW, my M818 w/5th...

    smoke from gp resistor

RE: Re: RE: Re: smoke from gp resistor I hope these pics are sized right. The tool is 12" long including the wooden handle. The length of each "finger" is 5/8" with the fingers being 1/2" apart. This is not a "pretty" tool by any means, but it works for me! Rick

    smoke from gp resistor

RE: Re: smoke from gp resistor I made my own glow plug removal tool by taking an inexpensive mid-size screwdriver, splitting the tip with a cutting tool, then heating and bending the two tips into the " V for victory". Then I heated and bent the "V" into a curl, as if you were holding a...

    Expansible Van Body Corroded Stuck!

I had one of these trucks with the same problem. I did the same PB Blaster routine which helped alot, but the way I freed my stuck latches was by using the side expansion ratchet to slightly force the stuck latch pin. Set the ratchet to expand the side, and then exand the side as far as it...

    m38inmaine new M1008

A few years back a guy working at Tobyhanna said that type of damage was a result of what they call "DRMS Hockey". The forklift operators are too busy, or too lazy to see if a truck will start, so they move it with a forklift. They don't care...they get paid either way. Rick

    M1007 Suburban CUCV Conversion

RE: Re: M1007 Suburban CUCV Conversion Hi CCATLETT1984, Yeah, I learned that the hard way! I'm not a very fast typer, and it was late, so I let it go with an "email any questions" ending. I've been doing the cut and paste ever since then...thanks for the tip! Rick

    Help! Electrical emergency!

msoumas, Using the picture provided, the top right side fuse is the Park/Marker lights-20 amp..directly under it is the Stoplight fuse- 10 amp, directly under that is the Headlight fuse- 30 amp. Like Mangus580 says, it may look good, but it may be bad...if you have spares, replace those fuses...

    M35A2 from WI to PA

Hi Glenn, I bought a CUCV M1009 at aution in (East)Texas in 2000. The guy I talked to on site said it was driven in, and ran fine. Shipping via car carrier was going to be $1,100. Mapquest showed it as a 23 hour trip back here to PA(20 mins East of you). I figured flying down, fuel, & food...

Save me from the tourch m75 apc

I have been buying small parts and accessories for the M75 since I saw Rich Greene's M75 for sale at the MVPA Convention at FIG in '94(?) I was hoping to buy one of SECO's M75's soon, but saw in this forum that they sent theirs to scrap. This one seems to be a good price, but like Medlog, the...

Ideas for tractor rear licence plate mount

Hi Bjorn, I've driven tractor trailer for 25 years now, and I've seen tractors from most states with plates on the front of the truck. I've seen a few tractors from 2 plate states with plates on the rear as well, but never one with no plate on the front. FWIW, Rick

    M1007 Suburban CUCV Conversion

Hi Tom, Thanks! The pioneer tool rack is from an M35 Series truck, and I fabbed aluminum brackets to mount it. It's out of the way, but still accessable. I have a 5 jerry can rack that mounts on the front brush gaurd that I'll take pics of Monday, and add to this post. Everytime I see...

    M1007 Suburban CUCV Conversion

I've had a couple requests to post info and pictures of my Suburban conversion, and I think this is the place to do it. I've had many CUCV"s over the years, but hadn't seen one that would fit the entire family( in air conditioned comfort). Then out of the blue a friend tells me he has an...
