My five ton does ok on the level but get wet snow or mud on hills, its so heavy it slows down and just sits and spins. I dont like the military tires for snow because I think the center rib, continuous, doesnt let the horizontal ribs to dig in. My 2 cents.

Just looked at your pic of control box. That needs to be packed with grease before closed up for use. If it didnt have grease in it , that may be what bound it and bent it.

On mine the box you are showing is called the control box. mine was worn so even when adjusting the linkages, as it passed through the control box wouldnt engage the pto. M135 rear wheels and rear frame but front of frame is unknown, that splice wont last. M135 front axle and possibly springs. The year? early 50's , 52 up couple years.

There was one in my area for sale with a worn out engine for 3K. A beater off roader. Maybe find one like that and drop in a better engine.:-D

Yes , The truck dump body is made for a passenger side pto. It would be much easier to buy the hoist kit for the duece. Its electric works well, and about 2800. Installation extra $. The springs on the five ton are much heftier than the duece. If you could buy the m211 springs, they are...
