My five ton does ok on the level but get wet snow or mud on hills, its so heavy it slows down and just sits and spins. I dont like the military tires for snow because I think the center rib, continuous, doesnt let the horizontal ribs to dig in. My 2 cents.
I have a 211 and it works fine. The high range seems to work better with plenty of rpms. And I agree it will creep along nice in low range. I think its just getting used to it. They do shift hard and it really is just the nature of the truck. But yes you have to give it plenty gas in high...
Nice work, lookin good! That cab shield weighs a ton, that must have been fun putting on. She looks alot better in O.D. I have a M51A2, and now you've inspired me to paint it. Thanks for all the pics.[thumbzup]
Another thing, if you are looking for a controlbox, they are all the same , the five ton dumps and the M215's , and 342's. That may be easier for you to find one. The pump and box is on the other side of the truck but they use the same control box. My 5 ton was purchased as cab and chassis, so I...
Just looked at your pic of control box. That needs to be packed with grease before closed up for use. If it didnt have grease in it , that may be what bound it and bent it.
On mine the box you are showing is called the control box. mine was worn so even when adjusting the linkages, as it passed through the control box wouldnt engage the pto. It would however operate the valve body on the hyd. pump . I put a lever directly to the pto to engage that and then pull the...
M135 rear wheels and rear frame but front of frame is unknown, that splice wont last. M135 front axle and possibly springs. The year? early 50's , 52 up couple years.
I am guessing that it doesnt matter, as long as you break the circuit. But anyway it has worked well on my five ton. Now the batterries are always up when I hop in after a month or two of sitting. If you freeze a set of dead batteries in the winter, they are shot. Ask me how I know. Now , next...
Yes , The truck dump body is made for a passenger side pto. It would be much easier to buy the hoist kit for the duece. Its electric works well, and about 2800. Installation extra $. The springs on the five ton are much heftier than the duece. If you could buy the m211 springs, they are...
