I was wondering what the pros vs cons of running one tire forward and one in reverse rotation next to each other on the rear of a deuce. All of them are new old stock so none of them are used to rotating a specific direction. I have only mounted 2 so far so I can still go either way. Thanks
Ordered 4 new old stock 11r20 Michelin XLs for the rear. Broke down a 5 ton wheel that had a new 11r20 Michelin XL on it. Cleaned up the inside of the tire. Cleaned up the tube and flap. Aired the tube up and checked it for leaks. Made a new shifter knob out of a pair of steel knuckles. Ordered...
Replaced the low cranking amp car batteries with 950 cca batteries from napa. They were on sale for 90 bucks each. The truck cranks so much faster now. I also ordered a 39MT delco starter for it for $159.40 on flea bay.
I drove the truck yesterday. Hauled a Buick skylark to the scrap yard in the bed. I did about 10 miles on the interstate. Got home, couldn't find the keys to a 98 Chevy truck that is next in line for the boneyard. Jacked up the rear of the truck and chained it to the lift shackle on the deuce...
Yes it has a spot in the bottom of the bellhousing for a plug. Doesn't have one in it. It has only been in deep water once. Over the tires. But it was 2014 and we went through the steer axle and replaced the seals and bearings. I'm not planning on doing any water driving but I will if it floods...
I think that the starter just went out on the 76 deuce. I cant hear a click over the low air buzzer. But the volt gauge needle does move when I hit the button. I was doing some checking around, cross referencing part numbers and came up with a delco part number for a 24 volt 39mt starter. It is...
Greased the 76 dropside deuce. Found what I think is the source of the vibration. The transmission output shaft yoke only had 2 bolts left in it and one was loose. Looks like a trip to the hardware store is in order.
I just met with Frank Hoagland. Drove the dropside deuce to his house. Talked with him for about two hours. He said that the bill wasn't voted on because it was a bunch of shat. He said that it is being gutted and rewritten to be where you can plate them however you like. He said that he thinks...
I put led work lights on the rear of the 76 deuce a few months ago. Right after I backed over my dad's mailbox one night. Oops. He still complains about the postal service wanting it there. Its been hit about 10 times and he is the last house on a dead end road. Mailman has hit it twice.
I haven't met with him yet I just sent an email saying that I had some questions and concerns that I would like to talk about. He has sessions Tuesday and Wednesday and would be in Columbus those days. That's the days I had off this week. Hopefully I can get done with work at a decent time one...
