It would be intresting to learn about it. I was thinking that if their was a way to use a simple 3-4 spd manual tranny from an old farm truck. Could I overdrive the th400 and then change gears and have an even lower gear for moving real heavy loads?
Would it be possible to add a second manual transmission to give the M1008 a manual over drive? Kinda like the gearvendors deal but a lot cheaper.
Just brainstorming a bit.

I picked up my M1008 a while ago and almost made it home. I found that the starter had broken a bolt and the end bracket wasnt there.
I was able to remove the frag remains of the broken bolt fairly easy and was able to acquire new bolts and a bracket from the dealership for less than $10. I...
The box looks great and its a great idea. However I do agree with the suggestion of a front cover. I would also be wary of the sheet metal sides supporting the weight of the box and tools during the vibration and bouncing of the ride. Mabey an additional support bar to go under it? Not knocking...
I wonder the diff in the m1008 and th m1008A1. I just bought an M1008 and it has 3 places where antenna mounts were. The front and rear of the bed on the passenger side and just the rear on the driver side. I would love to get a military style mount and antenna if I could use it for a CB.

A little flat OD green/black or some Camo covering from an old set of uniforms, mabey canvase covering to match your seat. Besides have you actually LOOKED at the CUCV door panels? LOL! Not exactly top grade are they. Besides--it was just ideas.
