    LMTV Upgrades

I have my box only connected to the 12v since all my gear is that voltage. I have never hooked up to the 24v side of the relay panel.

    M1078/M1079 for overland camper?

I got an M1079 rather than an M1078 and I have used it on several road/camping trips and it is great for me (my wife has not yet gone along). The truck itself has been great both on highway and off road. Top speed on mine has been 60 (downhill). I don't consider it a full camper since I don't...

    LMTV Upgrades

My latest project was to "fill" the space on the front of the van with a metal sheet. I have been getting 5.61 miles per gallon of fuel. I figured the "hole" in the middle (see BEFORE photo) was catching a lot of air since it had a "roof" over it. I hope I can improve my mileage somewhat by...

    M1079 check those hubs!

I took my truck for a 40 mile run today and here are hub temperatures I measured (all temps in Fahrenheit). Outside temperature today was 62 degrees.. I am glad to see such low temps. I am sure in the middle of a South Carolina summer they will be higher.

Good idea. On my next ride (usually once a week) I will take the temps on my hubs.

    M1079 check those hubs!

Shark Bait, I read through the TM and you are correct, the rear hubs share fluid with the differential! The rear hub fluid was "cloudy" so I am glad I added back some to it. Probably time for me to drain and fill the differential also. Thank you!

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

I did the cab of my M1079 with GTMAT and I am very pleased. Did not take long, was simple to install and a huge difference since the engine is underneath the seats! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?147122-LMTV-Upgrades/page5

    LMTV Upgrades

Sound Meter is an Android app. I use the one by Smart Tools (there are several others but this one is easy to use and calibrate). I used GTMAT 80 mil Ultra Sound Deadener (from eBay). It took 40 square feet to do just the floor. Nothing has been done to the ceiling. I am still thinking I might...

    M1079 check those hubs!

I bought my LMTV M1079 back in October and am new to the military vehicle stuff but I have had a lot of advise from Steel Soldiers. I took my truck to the GA rally and got a lot of great information. I had only had the truck a couple of weeks but I took notes from what everyone told me. One of...

    LMTV Upgrades

I finished the sound deadener / heat reducing mat in the cab. I can say it made a very positive difference! I did not take heat readings but I did make sound readings and here are before and after readings with the engine running at idle. Before: After: We went for a drive and were able to...
