Yeah the grey ground pedestals I know the love those I open at least the a week with a nest inside I've learned to use my feet to open and I kick the **** out of peds before I open them and Arial terms I hit them with the ladder or a set of layup sticks before climbing
Anyways back on subject...
do you really know me or what, i hate those ****ing things! but i will say there is 2 old nests above the drivers headlight... i need to get those cleaned out. there was also 2 in the drivers door jam outside of the weather seal... god i hate those bastards....
you know i swear they put those...
Oh and one interesting development, after reattaching the new alternator and cleaning up the connections there my seat belt buzzer just started working... didn't even know it was still installed lol
No doubt... well got the newer new belt installed and I think I got it tight enough but it started squealing a bit as well... I wonder what the issue is, how tight does that belt need to be? Torqued on the alternative with a pry bar and cranked the bolt down... was fine around the block then...
I can't complain got mine for free, though about bringing my Viava one expert meter from work but figure I shouldn't use a $3000 meter for testing voltages on my old beast I'd love to explain that to my vp
Got the new alternator installed and a new belt well turns out the belt is ever so slightly too long full adjustment on the alternative and it squeals like a bad belt. Back to the parts house for a slightly shorter v belt... anyone know about upgrading to a serpentine belt?
So to be fair my 15.5v reading may have been wrong the pass alt reads 14.1 on the machine at 2 parts stores and my multimeter is a really cheap harbor freight multimeter gets me in the ballpark anyway
shes down waiting on a new alt, bearings are fried. i have a new 12v civi alt on its way i will pick it and some new belts up tomorrow and throw them in see if that resolves the issue
both of them had bad bearings screamed on the test, dont know how i didnt hear it before when the truck was...
well took it out for a shakedown and i was hearing a belt squeal after a few miles. pulled it over and cut the passenger side belt off as it was warm to the touch and well its not doing anything with the wiring disconnected, continued on my journey and started to hear it again. once i got it...
so just for giggles i went out to look at the wiring some more, disconnected drivers side alternator and insulated all of the cable ends and secured to the harness with a zip tie, the truck now charges at 15.5 volts and the starter and everything functions as it should, once it gets warmer i...
So based on the information that I provided up to this point I believe we're safe to assume the passenger side alternator or generator 2 is grounded to the engine through the case, if that's the case here in theory if all of my research has been correct all I need to do to supply 12 volts...
Don't know why I typed starter I meant alternator, and I wasn't saying his answer was correct as you and 3 or 4 other sources said 20v is no Bueno with the charging
now as for the isolated ground starter is there anything i need to do in the engine to make the rest of the truck non isolated gd so that it is not a potential issue there, or should i swap the drivers side alt into the position of the passenger so that i have an isolated gd case on that side? i...
thanks for your reply, as i stated im not a big fan of converting the truck but i fear that the FD or PO of this truck started a 12V conversion and i do not at this time know what has been changed over so if i put the truck back to 24V i have fear of ruining the electrical system of the truck...
