    Power Steering Possibility?

Here's the valve with the couplers welded on and pretty much in place, and the steering wheel. The steering wheel is supposed to be for a peterbuilt or something and had an odd non-standard bolt pattern. That was a mistake that cost me some time machining a stupid fancy adapter for it.

    Power Steering Possibility?

Ok, I finished the system tonight. Where to start... I wanted to do something different. While a normal power steering box is the most tidy, I still wanted a big-ol ram down there steering the wheels without loading up the sector shaft. What I've done, is make it "steering assist" with the...

    Welding on rockwell axles

That makes sense. For the most part, they don't look like a casting at all, except maybe at the ends. Explains why they've got so much stuff welded to them so often, and with most of the paint still on. thanks

    Welding on rockwell axles

I know a couple folks on here have welded on their Rockwell axles, for such things like steering ram mounts, but as far as I can search, there aren't really any discussions on the welding itself. I need to weld a mount to mine here pretty soon. My buddy is a pro welder and he's getting...

5ton to m35 power steering upgrade

Ok, so I'm going through my steering assist build. I've got the servo mounted and am mocking up where I want to put the ram. Its the same psc kit as cattlerepairman. I've got two options: Mount the ram on a bigger plate welded to the differential, with an offset on it to keep it centered...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

This is the part interchange number that was listed on epay, if that helps any. The one I saved on my watchlist for 133 bucks, free shipping. 13082008, 138042, M630276

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

Ok, here is another concept for a valve that you could just put on each leg of you brake lines to shut one down in case of a failure, and keep the other functional. The drawing is by hand, so not to dimension or anything, but the concept should be clear. This is to shut off fluid flow in the...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

I've been racking my little mind over this for many months now. I have made a couple misconceptions along the way. For one, it will not be possible to use a combination valve off a single split source. You would have to have a real dual circuit master cylinder. Now I'm back to the safety valve...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

A point was recently made on another hydromax thread here about keeping your brakes on a separate hydraulic system than your power steering, if you have or plan on having power steering like myself. You don't necessarily want them on the same pump or fluid reservoir because the power to both...

    HydroBoost!

Well, crap. I was going to do my power steering project first, then the hydromax. I don't really think you would have a problem routing to the steering first, especially if you have the backup motor on there just in case. I was thinking the other day about having both on a shared pump though...

    LDT-465 back to multifuel

Thanks Rusty. I'll look for that additive. Now I've got to get myself a waste oil burner, cause I've got a lot of oil. Suppose I can still use my filters on used hydraulic oil. I'm pretty sure I can get ahold of that.

    LDT-465 back to multifuel

Well dang, now you guys got me all freaked out. I was really thinking of starting to use up some of my used oil as fuel, now that the temp is up outside, and diesel is nearing 5 bucks a gallon. My plan was to heat the oil for a while to get any water vapor out of it, gravity filter it through a...

    Power Steering Possibility?

The air assist would be a nice easy addon, but when I see prices like over 4k from eastern surplus for the kit, I think... um no thanks. I'm sure one might find it for much cheaper somewhere else, but that sticker shock kind of stuck with me. They quoted me 570 for a 5ton pump all ready to go. I...

    M35A2 power steering options?

I think I'll go for broke and cut it. I'll do a completely different custom shaft with u-joint up to a new steering wheel that uses common spline. Then I'll have more steering wheel options and be able to take things apart whenever I want. Plus, not have a massive steel shaft pointed at my...

    Power Steering Possibility?

This is exactly what I was planning for my deuce, but my main roadblock is in the solid one-piece steering shaft. It's a 7/8 spline at the steering wheel. Thats pretty serious. I had been looking at Sweet's steering servos. Very similar to the woodwards. The largest splines they have are 3/4"...

    M35A2 power steering options?

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with some info on the stock m35a2 steering box. Looks like a lot of people here have taken them out of their trucks during power steering swaps. I can't find any good schematics or specs on the original unit. Is the shaft that goes up the steering...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

They're just cheap tractor seats off ebay if I remember correctly. I wouldnt buy them again. Too cheap. But I got them both shipped for like 500 home. What I really need is another original deuce spring base, but damn those are waay expensive right now. 400 bucks in shipping alone, no thanks.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Added a little battery life monitor to the center console and finally tried out the cb radio with the noise canceling headset. Never posted these before, so here's the center console too. I can take the ammo cans off and flip the base up to access the floor. Its on a set of hinges. I ground...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

Thanks for confirming that 800 psi. I think I heard that number on one of Hank's deuce videos a while back, that's why I was worried. Yeah, most of these upgrades cost more than the original price of the truck often enough. Heck, I 've already got as much into mine as I paid for it, and am...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

Yea, that's the hydraulic type I was talking about. I do not know how I missed that hydromax booster thread, cause I search a lot. Great discussion, except for having no feedback on how the system performed after everything was done. It's looking more and more like the system I will go with...
