2018 Georgia Military Vehicle Rally buy-sell-trade

I'm looking for some M939 rear axle inner seals, outer seals and lockwashers (X4) for my rear axles and (1) pinion seal for my rear most axle. I need to complete an annual axle service on my truck and do not have the parts on hand. I can order them but figured I could save on shipping if I...

    M1102 missing brake parts

Good Looking out Porky! (Almost thought I'd never say that after my spat with you). I saw that at the bottom but did not click on it since it didn't list any model numbers.

    waste oil stove

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdkF49OGN-Y Looks clear enough to me. We use waste JP-8 drained out of vehicles at work. We sometimes have to clean the fuel lines and metering device but these heaters are extremely simple to work on.

    M1102 missing brake parts

I looked in the Technical Manual section for trailers and didn't see one for the M1101/1102's. Not a problem, I'll fix that when I get to work in the morning. You can then look up the NSNS to try and track down the parts for it. Personally I wouldn't worry about brakes on it. It's a surge...

    waste oil stove

Most of your diesel / kerosene jet flame type heaters should run just fine so long as it's filtered and blended with diesel or kerosene. Not sure how much smoke it might put off but if you do try it I'd be curious to know.

August 2018 MV of the Month Nominations

New Cargo Cover makes my truck prettier! Doubt it's enough to push it over the top but I was just too busy to campaign correctly during last month's contest.

Southeast Willys Jeep Get Together 10/6/18 Asheville, NC

No worries about the PM from the gentleman. I'd actually like to get one of those jeeps one day but they are too expensive for my budget. What's funny to me is how a little Jeep costs way more money than a 5 ton.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Put a new cargo cover on my truck. Technically it's an MTVR cargo cover but both have 14 foot beds. This one cuts it really close on the sides, they are about an inch too short. After some work it looks like it was meant to be there. Old cover is going to a buddy of mine to cover some old...

M1008 loss of power at high end

Check valve on the injection pump hanging up momentarily. It's the black 6 sided fitting hooked to the return line. There is a glass ball inside that likes to stay clean. As for the 65 to 70 mph in a M1008, that's spinning the engine pretty fast. Soldiers have done it many times in order to...

    Highway speed of 5ton

I agree with Simp. I think you'd be dollars ahead to pick up a M931 or M932 tractor if you have a strong love for the NHC-250. Ideally you would find an M915 with a Cat 7155 trans to run the speeds you desire, have full air brakes and a Big Cam NTC-400. I personally have an M923 Cargo that...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Amer-team, that looks like a great effort. All I've done with mine so far this week is drive it to Lowes to get a new well pump pressure switch. I've been trying to put it the truck on the road more and more since I nearly killed it by letting it sit. I've only been running it hard for a few...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Drove mine 70 miles over the past 2 days. It broke down due to a fueling issue but after cleaning the check valve on the Injection Pump cover it seems to be back to normal again. I'm going to change my habits and drive the truck on a 30 mile trip a week whether I have a need to or not. Should...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Russm, I am a fan of the PulseTech products but what you have is a 10 watt maintainer. 10 watts in bright sun, it is not a charger and PulseTech's literature supports my statement. I recommend that you charge the batteries to the best of their capacity and use the Solargizer to keep them...

Official 2018 Ga. Military Vehicle Rally info thread. Oct. 17-21, 2018

Pat, I hope you make it. I came last year on a foot that I broke less than a month prior. I'll never know if it was the right decision but I try my best not to miss the opportunity to meet up with the fine people on this forum at the Annual cookout.

Official 2018 Ga. Military Vehicle Rally info thread. Oct. 17-21, 2018

Welder1 and I will be staying at Kaye's Keep if you can't find us on the trails or in the Swap Meet. It's the big cabin across from the Lodge. Running the trucks hard 3 months out has revealed a few cracks but I'm on top of them. I really need to send my insurance and registration information...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Cleaning the check valve did the trick. It was running great until I put an additive called Multilube Diesel Fuel Conditioner in it. We use it at work on every diesel we store for over 90 days. Semi-Legal Disclaimer, I'm not advocating that it's anything other than a guy peeing in a jug out...

    M939 series 5 ton capacities

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?79228-TM-s-for-the-939-series-trucks The information you've requested is located in the second link from the top, TM9-2320-272-10.pdf The main differences between the A1 and A2 is the engine. A1's have a NHC-250 Cummins and the A2's have the 6CTA...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I'm having a fueling issue with mine currently but I think I'm making progress. It shut off going down the road on an ice cream trip last night with Lee and my youngest son. It made it home under it's own power. Once stalled and shut off it would start right back up and run strong as ever. I...

    m1079 12v power????

The newer ones have a convenience outlet on the passenger side dash. One issue I see in the National Guard is people plugging their phones up to the outlet when the truck is parked for a few days. I'm sad to say that a smart phone can kill an LMTV within a few days of not running the truck. I...
