IPL is Illustrated Parts List, basically a breakdown of all parts, internal and external. You stated the leg is PITA. What is PITA Thank you for your reply...
Wow.... You guys are GREAT! Your ideas and knowledge seem to be endless. I have the stabilizer leg upside down in my vice and have been applying penetrating fluid to the movable portion of the leg but haven't had any success in getting it to move. Does anyone by chance have an IPL for this...
Hello All.... I recently purchased an M101A2 trailer. I have been actively working on it, trying to remove the rust, repair/replace the tail lights, etc. While working on rust abatement, I noticed that the chassis is an M116 while the trailer is an M101A2. I have read the TM (found on this...
I wish so much that I too had a 2.5 ton. Perhaps when I get my M101A2 done (and my backhoe and my rail buggy) I will get one. I might be too old by then...
I have been retired for quite a while and I don't have much of a memory but I seem to recall that the large trucks have a three position ignition switch - Off (Stop), On (Run), Start. The operator turns the switch RIGHT to the on position, then turns it further to the right which engages the...
They did reuse most of the components. They had to replace the window regulator as the original one was bent (according to the body shop). I did notice that I will have to fix the window crank handle as it twisting eccentrically.
It is AWESOME....! Great Find. What will you do with the water tank? I don't know what I would do with one, but I bet the folks here will have a thousand and one possible uses...
Home from the Hospital
Today I was able to retrieve my M1008 from the body shop! A Red Ford Ranger rolled away from its parking space, rolled past my truck, and folded my door back against the fender. It jacked the door, hinges, fender, and cab post. The total repair bill was just under...
My M1008 comes back from the body shop tomorrow. It got a new pax door and fender from a mishap with a red Ford Ranger. Apparently, the ranger could not see the CUCV as it has a woodland camo paint design....
Hello from NE Oklahoma. I too want a deuce and may get one someday. I currently have an M-1008 CUCV truck that is being repaired (smashed pax door). I know you're going to LOVE that truck. I drove them for years in the 80's and 90's. I will never forget "ALWAYS DRAIN THE AIR" from the tanks.
I will be traveling that way soon. I will try to find it and stop by to see if anyone is there. Do you have more information on it's location? Please advise...
I too was afraid they would try to total it because of it's age and yes, I did remind them that it is a genuine, well maintained, flawless (is that even possible?) MV. If they had decided to total my truck, I would have paid for the repair out of my pocket. It took me 20 years to find this...
I am fortunate to have a metal genius right down the road from me. He is expensive (and crude) but the only things he cannot weld are a broken heart and the crack of dawn. Everything else is fair game. I firmly believe he could weld plywood if I gave him a dowel rod. As for wrapping stuff...
