    Connecting autostart controllers 802A / 803A and 831A

Hi everyone, I have a couple of DSE7310 autostart controllers that I want to connect to both my 831A and 803A. I have used these Deep Sea Electronics controllers on Honda generators but the MEP's are a different animal. The DSE controllers are very configurable and have remote monitoring and...

    MEP-803A 1 deg F / -17c cold start test and video

Thanks, The Howes is sold everywhere and as far as I'm concerned it's the best by far, http://www.howeslube.com/dieseltreat.php Thanks for the advice and I will definitely shoot videos horizontally from now on, your advice makes perfect sense.

    MEP-803A 1 deg F / -17c cold start test and video

I use the Howes for several reasons, It cleans and lubricates fuel injectors, safely removes water from diesel fuel and eliminates smoking and rough idle. I have used it in my 7.3 Ford pickup since new in 2000 and have never had a fuel injector problem or any other fuel related issues. My truck...

    MEP-803A 1 deg F / -17c cold start test and video

Thanks, It got beat up a bit by the shipping company and some less than careful forklift operators. Since the enclosure is all aluminum it's fairly easy straighten out all the dents. It's my first military surplus equipment, I'm fairly confident it will start in any weather now.

    MEP-803A 1 deg F / -17c cold start test and video

I was curious to see if my genset would start in fairly cold weather. It's my first 803A and the first time I've ever posted to youtube so please go easy on me :-D Again thank you to all the helpful people on this site, I couldn't have gotten my MEP-803A running reliably without you all. 2009...

    Just picked up a 2009 MEP-803A

I'm going to use the setup for the house, I put in a furnace transfer switch and will run a quality power bar to run a few lights and the TV. We have a gas stove and water heater with all LED or fluorescent lights and its just to expensive to put in a whole house transfer switch right now. We...

I think 6 gauge copper would be fine for 75 feet for 240VAC 50 Amps with a voltage drop of less than 3% but you can use this calculator to check for yourself. There is 2 ways to use the calculator, "Minimum conductor size" and "Maximum circuit distance". Try them both and I think you'll see 6...

Finally have the power distribution put together and working. The spider box is a CEP 6506G and I bought a 50' cable and removed the connector and attached the cable to the generator lugs. The spider box has a 50A 240V pass thru so I can use the connector I removed to wire my welder to the...

Thank you for your help, I've found 3 of the small nuts so far. Is the part of ground cable clamp is from a ground rod kit or from a ground inside the generator and there for a safety issue?

Thanks, that explains it for me. I have another what is it and where does it come from question. I've found 3 of the little nuts in the gauge panel end of the generator belly pan and one of the other item in the picture.

Excellent info, thank you. I will check that out. I tried the panel lights also and I couldn't tell for sure but I didn't think the gauge lights were working either. Also the oil pressure gauge twitches around 50 psi when its running. Maybe the 3 problems are related to a less than ideal ground...

    Just picked up a 2009 MEP-803A

Thanks, I bet that's it because I had it in the shop at 50 deg then pulled it out for its first start and the gauge worked. I left it outside overnight so I could check the cold weather starting and that's when the gauge didn't work. Its back in the shop now so when I pull it out we'll see if...

So today when I started the genset today the temp gauge did not work at all. I've printed the sender and gauge test procedures from the TM and will check it tomorrow. I need to get the genset up to speed because its supposed to be very cold here over the next few days.

Thanks, I wonder why the return line and wires are in that state. The genset only has 255 hours on it. Ill straighten those 2 issues out as well.

Thanks, I will get that throttle adjustment done today. It's going to be 25 deg today :-P I would like some advice regarding the messy wiring. Should the tie-wrapped black plastic line that runs vertical on the left of the picture be routed through the red rubber anchor point?

Thanks, Yes I read in the operating TM that preheat for 30 seconds but I have no experience with these gensets so is it ok to go longer or do 2 30 second preheats? For my diesel pickup I do 2 cycles of the glow plugs before starting in really cold temps.
